I am slowly figureing out how to work this site. hopefully I will be writing fanfic soon, if I get the time. I'm lesbian, so my works will be primarily f slash. there simply isn't enough here. sorry if that bothers you. my pen name is significant. I love it when things have meaning, and this name has several, which I am rather proud of. firstly, 'Prentice refers to an entity in training who watches the masters and attemps to make herself better by imatation. second, I am in the martial arts, tae kwon do to be specific, and my rank is aprentice black belt. Third, one of my favorite serieses by Orson Scott Card was intitled 'Prentice Alvin. the other half of my name, Bard, has at least three references tied to it. first, in Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series, there was a group of people who had a Gift for music, and they were trained in the college in the same general area as the Heralds and the Healers. Second, I play Violin in at least two music groups (I'm working on two more), and musicions are oftimes called bards in the old times. third, anyone who writes or composes, particularly prosaic works, is considered a bard. fourth, of course, is the Bard, and while I hesitate to call on him as I don't wish to make a profesion out of writing nor do I wish to write in his style, he is still possibly the greatest name in the history of literature, having made up or changed the form of five hundred or more words, not to mention vast amounts of turns of phrase and proverbs, as well as having a little of his plays in virtualy every story ever made since. I am talking, of course, of William Shakespeare, the unimatatable, oft-called on Bard of our era. and so, having finished the acknowledgement which any good writer must make at some point in their lives, I can move on and not worry about being smited. |
