Poll: What should my next writing project be? Vote Now! |
![]() Author has written 24 stories for .hack/SIGN, Suikoden, Static Shock, Harry Potter, Star Ocean, Avatar: Last Airbender, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Hmm...I ponder at times if people actually read these things. A little about me? Pet peeves. Pet Peeve # 1: When reading a story, nothing bothers me more than the instant gratification. The sudden blurting of "I love you" and then the couple fall into each others arms and everything is happy. gag That's not real life people. And sure, we're writing fan fiction, but at least attempt to make it believeable. I love writing and reading stories from talented writers, but that bugs me. Pet Peeve # 2: Stories that are less than 1,000 words. Unless your writting drabble, then there should be no reason you can't make up a chapter that's more than a 1,000 words. Things are just too short and anything that short just feels rushed. Pet peeve # 3: Of late I've noticed several stories that have been getting tagged as favorites, but no reviews. While I greatly appreciate an audience that likes my stories well enough to put them in their favorites section, I appreciate the reviews infinitely more, because this is how I gauge my progress as a writer, what I'm doing good, what I'm doing bad and how I can improve. Reviews are very important to me, the encourage me to continue writing because I know I have something to write for, and I take into consideration what my reviewers want. But bottom line, I can't become better if I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong. Favorite Ships: It's sad to even admit, but I have come to accept that I do ship for certain couples. I never used to, but I appreciate the relationship developed between the characters so much that to me, it just seems perfect. Kite x BlackRose: .Hack Series - This is probably my first real introduction into the shipper world. Kite and BlackRose were the perfect couple, complimenting each other's strengths while compensating for each other's weaknesses. Every terrifying event they experienced, they faced together, they did it together and became stronger because of it. Thomas x Cecile: Suikoden Series - It's amazing to realize that out a series of 5 games (6 counting Tierkies - which I don't count) with 108 characters each, this is probably the only ship I fully support. These two are so cute together it's just sickening. Percy x Annabeth: Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Even if this is a children's book, the developing romance between Percy and Annabeth was done perfectly. A slow forming bond of friendship that grew romantic as the series progressed until the finale with their first true kiss. It was sweet, it was honest and most of all, it was believable. Aang x Katara: Avatar: The Last Airbender - This is one that really got me accepting my fanboyishness, so much so that I defend this ship (Kataang) over the others, particulary since so many people think Katara belonged with Zuko. Sorry, but honestly, Zuko and Katara never showed any romantic interest in each other. Watch the series again, there's nothing between them but friendship. Kataang however, there are subtle and not-so-subtle clues that they have a true romance building between them spread throughout the series. That, and the final scene of Avatar: TLA is perhaps one of the sweetest and most perfect scenes I've watched, and I'm not a sentimental person. And for those who say Aang is too young for Katara, I roll my eyes and tell you that Kite is two years younger than BlackRose, and no one has the problem with that pair like they do with Aang and Katara. Makoto x Ami: Sailor Moon - This one is wierd because 1) I've never watched Sailor Moon, never found it remotely interesting, 2) I have no idea where this ship came from considering I never watched the show, and 3) Not only is it non-canon, but it's the only ship I support that features two girls. I'm not a fan of yuri, so I've no idea where this came from. Regardless, I found myself searching and finding stories for this pair because these two seemed, like many of the others, a perfect match and a very sweet coupling. Works in progress: a) Island Nations Chronicles - A retelling of Suikoden IV, hopefully filling in some HUGE plot holes and developing a story that is better than the game. b) Pillow Talk - A series of one-shots set in Avatar: The Last Airbender's world, featuring snippets of comfort and heartfelt conversations between pairings of the Gaang. c) Quiet Interludes - A series of one-shots set in the Percy Jackson universe. Main focus is of course Percy/Annabeth, though other pairings will appear. |
