Bio: Jiāng Shén/Kyōjin is the reincarnation of Kazuya Kirihara, also known as Kiriya. Sharp and bright, Kiriya was a 21 year-old youth, who graduated from university with his friends at the top of his class. On the night of his graduation, he was going to join his friends to celebrate but was set upon by shady robed individuals. Despite successfully fending off his assailants initially, Kiriya was quickly immobilized and was mortally wounded on the spot. The leader of the assailants took out a mirror that was stolen from a museum and activated it before Kiriya succumbed to his injuries.

By the time Kiriya opened his eyes, he was reincarnated into the world of Imperial China during the Han Dynasty as the 10 year-old Kyōjin. Born to a new world with a new life, Kiriya retains all his memories of his previous life but cannot recall much of Kyōjin's youth before his 10th birthday. As Kyōjin, he was arriving at his new home in Linyi City, Qing Province. Due to the experience he enduring in being stabbed to death, Kiriya developed a cynical and nihilistic attitude and grew fearful of weapons, especially blades. The shocking discovery that he is now during the waning years of the Han Dynasty didn't make it any better. Two years after awakening as Kyōjin, Kiriya openly confessed his agony to his grandfather, Kyō Tetsuryū, a fabled war hero. In turn, Kyō Tetsuryū gave his grandson some advice in hopes of lifting Kiriya's spirits. However, tragedy arrived when an old enemy of Kiriya's grandfather arrived and killed in single combat. While fearful of his life and enraged by his grandfather's death, Kiriya made a daring attempt to retrieve his grandfather's remains and broker an agreement with his grandfather's enemy. After giving Kyō Tetsuryū a proper burial, Kiriya and his mother were forced to leave Linyi City three years later, leaving them penniless and homeless. Through this experience in seeing how treacherous the world is, Kiriya overcomes his fear of blades and vows to train in the military arts in hopes of fighting to protect his family and friends. He will do whatever it takes to keep his loved one's safe from the coming chaos, no matter the cost.

Bio: Qīng Lóng/Kinryū, also known as Mikoto, is a young warrior hailing from the same city Kyōjin/Kiriya was born. As a child, he and his sister lived peacefully within the city under the leadership of Kyō Tetsuryū, Kyōjin's grandfather. However, in 412 I.C, when the Indigo Wolves assaulted the city and slay Kyō Tetsuryū, he was amongst the many people who began to doubt their safety. However, to the shock of everybody, Kiriya returned with his grandfather's body and the insurance that Linyi city is saved. Enamored by Kiriya's courage and self-sacrifice, Mikoto was inspired to be a soldier so that one day he could attain the privilege of serving Kiriya. This dream was further hardened after Kiriya and his mother was exiled from the city.

Upon completing his martial training and military education, Mikoto left Linyi to seek out his would-be lord. While protecting a village not to far from the border of Ji and Bing Provinces, Mikoto finally met Kiriya and helped him triumph in the Battle of Gu Pass. After revealing himself, Kiriya agreed to accept Mikoto into his service. A versatile and adamant warrior in both body and spirit, Mikoto respects loyalty and courage above all else but also values generosity and brilliance in people. Due to his positive outlook in life, Mikoto is not easy to anger nor sadden but he would demonstrate a sense of killing instinct against greedy and self-centered individuals when they provoke him too far. Mikoto excels in leading troops in both offensive and defensive purposes.

Bio: Xióng Hái/Yūkai, also known as Naomasa, is a robust mercenary, who is a member of the infamous Indigo Wolves. Hailing from the Liang Province in the Northwestern China, Naomasa is a native to the Han Dynasty but possesses an strong ancestry to Xianbei barbarians. Because of this, Naomasa was often harassed and tormented by local villagers. As a result, Naomasa developed a competitive nature and trained himself in the art of the warrior so that nobody would dare to hurt him again. Through years of vigorous training and combat experience, Naomasa became an avid warrior, peerless in both strength and endurance.

Despite his courage and martial prowess, he is unable to participate in any martial arts competition, due to his mixed ancestry. Eventually, he was taken in as a student to the mercenary leader, Yōketsu, who was also the leader of the Indigo Wolves. During the early years of tutelage, he bear witness to his mentor's killing of Kyō Tetsuryū in the name of vengeance and the agreement Yōketsu made to Kiriya. While perplexed by this, Naomasa learned a clear lesson in the concept of honor. Through this strong sense of dignity, Naomasa exemplifies the true meaning of a warrior, despising all forms of foul play and dishonest acts. As a fighter, he is enthralled in the thrill of battle, always ready for a fight at any where at any time. However, he isn't fond of senseless killing.

Bio: Yúwén Máo/Yubun Ke, also known as Nobuna, was a vagabond swordswoman wandering from place to place in hopes of finding a decent occupation to sustain herself. During her childhood, she grew up in Xindu city, which was the under the control of the wealthy and prestigious En (Yuan) family. However, due to being exposed to this environment, Nobuna's family and their neighbors were often bullied by either members of the wealthy or troops who work for them. After much torment, Nobuna's family finally decided to leave Xindu City in hopes of finding a better place to live. Unfortunately, the turmoil that corroded the land has caught on to them and took the lives of several members of Nobuna's family.

Ultimately, she was left alone and was driven to the brink of starvation. It was only thanks to Han General Kouhosuu (Huangfu Song) who rescued Nobuna and took her into her service. Influenced by her resentment towards nobility, Nobuna became a deadly swordfighter and studied hard in the martial arts and military warfare. At the advice from Roshoku (Lu Zhi), Nobuna was appointed as captain of the Linyi city guards. Here, she met her first true friend since her exile from Xindu, Kinhana (Qing Hua), also known as Sakuya. As she was working, the two became close friends and often socialized together. When the administrator fled from the city when word of a bandit force arrived, Nobuna rallied what city guards she could and saved a fraction of the residents of Linyi city. However, her inability to save the others weighed heavily on her. Later, Kiriya (Kyoujin) arrived with his militia to help but Nobuna had a hard time believing him until Sakuya intervened. Initially, Nobuna was hesitant to support him due to the fact that his grandfather was a noble. However, after the Battle of Mount Tai, she willingly pledged herself to Kiriya's service...

Bio: Qīng Huā/Kinhana, also known as Sakuya, is a the younger sister of Mikoto (Qing Long). As a resident of Linyi city, Sakuya bore witness to the events that transpired after Kyou Tetsuryuu's death. As such, she and many others in the city hold Kiriya with high-esteem. However, Sakuya is fairly timid and shy around people while showing little nervousness in front of people she is familiar with. Despite her soft nature, Sakuya is known throughout Linyi commandery for her kindness and love for her people. As such, she is one of the three iconic faces to Linyi besides her brother and Kiriya.

When her brother Mikoto completed his training, Sakuya agreed to remain behind in the city whilst her brother seek out Kiriya. In her mind, she felt that she would be a unnecessary burden to her brother and would slow him down. Despite the lack of self-esteem, Sakuya is not beyond help as she often tries to improve herself however she could including archery and educational knowledge. Without herself knowing it, she became one of Qing Province's best archers while also being the brightest mind in the province. Due to her skills, she was recruited to serve as Secretariat of Linyi Commandery. During this time, she made close friends with Yubun Ke, aka Nobuna, the captain of the city guards. Through this, she manages records and report issues to the administrator. However, when the said administrator abandoned the city to a bandit army, Sakuya took it upon herself to use a messenger pigeon to call Kiriya and her brother back, with success but was unable to stop the bandits from pillaging the city. Upon arrival, Sakuya pledged herself to Kiriya's service in hopes of making her brother proud and to support her loved ones...

The Old Dragon fell at Linyi,
Because his heir held no bravery.

Why this? Why this, oh Dragon Beneath the Sky?
Why this? Did you let your kinsmen die?
Always the pride of our Lord's heart,
How could your spirit part?

When the Old Dragon was slain before his eyes,
They filled with sheer despise.
And as he faced the man who shattered him,
His presence was reek of grim.

But when he spoke with undisputed sooth,
His foe beheld the truth.
Return, he did, a service he fulfilled,
His folk was freed and thrilled.

Yet still, yet still, forgotten was his deed,
