![]() Author has written 10 stories for Naruto, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I can't believe it's been a year and a half since I last visited here, I could tell you it's because I've been absolutely swamped what with high school and community college, and I most certianly wouldn't be lying, but it's quiet easy to come up with a billion ideas and not write anything. I can certianly feel the break taking a tole on my spelling and grammar and I seriously doubt I've improved much in that time. Lately. however, I got my hands on a new laptop that's not slower than a turtle racing a stallion and I've been discovering I rather miss this. So I'm currently working on a story and I hope to post eventually. If you'd like to know about me, I am currently fifteen and a half, I'm struggling to improve my math scores and workout habits for a better chance at being able to attend the Military Academy of West Point. I go jogging every morning with my Dutch Shepard puppy, Zoe. I'm also in training to become a Machinist, something I find amusing considering I come from a long line of engineers. I tend to procrastinate like crazy and am an avid gamer. (I also have two snakes, Blake and Kyprioth, not important, I just like mentioning it.) I believe heavily in never flaming new writers no matter how awful or annoying or cliched their stories are. Face it, guys, you aren't cool bullying the young people just because you're a little bit more talented. You just look like douches. Tips for first-time writers. If you're new to writing don't expect it to be as easy as throwing some big words together, a bit of description, and some corny dialogue (A mistake I still make). Writing takes some skill. You have to understand grammar and character development and the true power of words. If you write about a romance there has got to be some sort of build up and you'd be surprised at what you could add in even a short one-shot. Just be prepared, it might seem easy now, but after awhile its a crap-ton of head banging and nit picking. Another thing, when writing a summary try not to include, "I suck at summaryz! Sorry!" Or, "Just read it." Because that's the one thing that will make the good writers (the ones that could potentially help you improve) overlook you entirely and the obnoxious (sometimes talented) writers flame you like crazy. It also helps to properly capitalize your title. You know, that's a pretty easy fix. I'm not much in the way of beta-reading at the moment, but if you want me to read your story and give you some feedback I'd be more than willing too. (and that would go for any fandom. Even if I don't know the characters I can still look at your writing style.) I'm also perfectly happy to chat if you just want to talk. -Heidi |
