![]() Author has written 1 story for Chuck. A wonderful thing happened in December of 2011. Frea O'Scanlin and quistie64 got to see first hand how wonderful, awesome and generous the Chuck community is when friends donated over $2,100 to Operation Smile during the "Chuck will Sing for a Smile"-a-thon (learn more about it at Castle Inanity/donate). Eight needy children suffering from cleft palates and other facial deformities will received life changing surgeries because of these donations. As a thank you to those who donated, and because we wanted to write something really fun, we promised to pen a chapter for every $50 raised of a Chuck musical, a "Chucksical" if you will. Of course, when we made that pledge, we had no idea what was in store for us. Through open and giving hearts, we raised five times more money than we originally expected. Not that we're complaining. We asked people to vote in our poll which well known musical they would like for us to mangle, *cough, "Chuckify." The winner was (drum roll)... Guys and Dolls. Yes, Sky Masterson, Sarah Brown, Nathan Detroit, Adelaide, Nicely-Nicely and the whole crew are here. Who are all these characters you ask? Well, they are embodied in our favorite characters of the Chuckverse: Chuck, Sarah, Casey, Ellie and Awesome and a cast of... tens. In case you are unfamiliar with the storyline of Guys and Dolls, here a quick outline of what's happening so far: Nathan Detroit is a gambler who runs a floating crap game. His fiancee of fourteen years, Adelaide, is a showgirl who just wants to get married. She sneezes every time she talks to Nathan about wanting to get married (she's a bit of a hypochondriac). She tells her mother that she and Nathan have been married for nearly fourteen years and have five children. Officer Brannigan is a cop who is causing problems for Nathan, making it hard for him to find a place to have his craps game. Nathan needs $1,000 to pay a garage to use for his game. But he doesn't have the money. Sarah Brown is a woman who is in a Salvation Army kind of anti-drinking/gambling group. She needs to get more "sinners" in the mission, which she's having a hard time doing. If she doesn't, they will close that branch of the mission. Sky Masterson is a big-time gambler who has just come to town. To get the $1,000 he needs, Nathan makes a bet with Sky that Sky can't get Sarah Brown to go to dinner with him. So remember: Buy More=Salvation Army Mission, Ellie=Nathan Detroit, Devon=Adelaide, Chuck=Sarah Brown, Sarah=Sky Masterson, Big Mike=Officer Brannigan. As with any musical, there is singing. And some dancing. Don't know the music that well? No fear. The internet is well equipped to help you find clips of each of the songs we will be skew-, *hem, parod-, *er, using. So sit back, relax and enjoy, Spies and Nerds. (Opening Day February 6, 2012) |
