Hey there, I'm CTJ, or C, and I'm a young lady residing in the USA. I keep trying to take a hiatus and failing. Go figure.

I'm a part-time writer, part-time artist, and full-time partier-- um, I mean, student. I'm a lover of music, my favorite bands being Dry the River and Mumford and Sons. Ed Sheeran's up there, too. And James Bay. Just give me some indie/acoustic, a little "stomp and holler" as they call it--is that what they call it?--and I'm all set. I'm a half-avid composer of music for the piano and highland bagpipe, which I decided to play the same afternoon I decided that the flute (I'd been squeaking out notes for a year and a half at that point) was just too damn quiet.

I'm a lover of many books, including George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire (I got stuck on Book 4, are you surprised?), J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter (lol of course), J.R.R. (what's with all these double R's?) Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (7 years later and I still want to marry Aragorn), and a few other books that have left me in awe-- Ordinary People by Judith Guest, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Nick Flynn and Lord Alfred Tennyson are my current favorite poets. Yes, I know there's a bit of a disparity between the former and the latter. My tastes vary.

The books nearest and dearest to my heart are Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights (oh my stars is that book precious to me) and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series (OH. MY. STARS.) Will Parry needs a hug. Heathcliff also needs a hug. And a punch in the face. But back on the topic of Will Parry: my son. Protect him at all costs.

I adore The Legend of Zelda. 'Nuff said. And my opinion of Star Wars is [FRANTIC R2-D2 BEEPS AND SCREECHES]. Also, I think I recently got into Star Trek. Or did I just get into Spock? I'm still a little confused about that, but I'm OK with it. I'm trying to forget I was ever a Doctor Who fan, but I'll read your Doctor/Rose fic if you nudge me in that direction, and as far as Downton Abbey goes, sign me up for all the fic you can squeeze out of that period drama hoopla. That is the kind of hoopla I'm trying to buy in bulk. Maybe a glass of wine to go along with it.

Taking things seriously makes my head hurt. In fact, taking things in general makes my head hurt, which is why I prefer to give. I give my writing, that is what I give. I give it to the void of the Internet, expecting no response, but I do it anyway. In fact, my fan work is not only unsolicited, but also unnecessary, which must be why I often neglect actual work and social responsibilities in order to crank out a chapter. I guess, in the end, I do it because I love it, and because--real talk--in the end, what we create (largely in secret) says more about us than how we look, how we behave, or even our occupation. And one of the reasons I archive my work on here is because it allows me to keep track of my own growth while making friends with a community of creative minds with the same nerdy interests as me. In the end, what you'll read below these words and not above them says a lot more about me, not just who I am as I write this, but who I was five years ago and maybe even years from now.

That's right, friends. I am nerd trash. Utter nerd trash. That's what I'm getting at, and on a certain level I'm ashamed, but I've also archived something like 500k words of prose in my time here, and there's something to say for that. Don't ask me what.

Someday I'll write a novel. But first: time to procrastinate.
