Shikadai's heritage has always been an important part of his life, in ways he knows too well and in ways he hasn't discovered. He assumes his identity as Konoha's next lazy shadow-manipulating genius, because anything else would be too troublesome. However, after an attempt on his life, he, with Uncle Gaara's help, unearths his roots in the Sand and forges a new identity.
