Author has written 1 story for Guardians of Time. New look for my profile page :P About Me: I don't understand the pace at which some people update. It's like they're writing machines :P Personally uhmm, well maybe we shouldn't get into this because I haven't exactly been updating lately whereas I have read quite a few stories ;) Anyways I still like writing although I've never even considered writing fanfiction, regardless of the fact that I had no clue what it was until 4 months ago. I still have to get into the habit of it because currently it feels a little weird. I rumagged around on this page for a bit and I have to say I completely loathe endless "copy this to your profile if..." phrases. I OWN A LIFE thank you very much...love it, live it -- i don't see why i should deny this and none of my friends own or know of such a thing as fanfiction.net (apart from my dedicated stalker Muff :P), in fact i technically don't have time for writing fanfics seiing as I am busy 48 hours a day (and apparently don't know how to spell seeing :S). I am a dedicated reader and love many books which i previously listed but currently don't feel the necessity to list again (yes, I have heard of copy/paste, but similar to last time I updated this profile, it is the middle of the night and I am dead-tired) o.O and I live in an AMAZING town, with incredible people and terrible drivers...insanely lively day and night, and very pretty :) any guesses what that city might be ;) i doubt anyone would guess... my city lights up the world :) never knew i was so possessive of a city I don't even come from, in a foreign country Another hint, it is NOT in the US as i have never actually visited the US in my life :( ohh, I am not a native english speaker btw and (hopefully) almost trilingual still got some work to do on my french :) I reckon it doesn't exactly hurt writing a little about literature I like :) I pretty much love all great literature! Some classics include but are not limited too: Dr. Zhivago, Animal Farm, Jane Austen's Books, Brave New World, The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Boston Jane & Watership down and so much more... Other stuff I like in no particular order: - The Curse of the Akkad ~non-fiction i guess but still really good - Mel ~ something cute i picked up at the local store - Mara, Daughter of the Nile ~one of my all time child-favourites :) - Harry Potter ~ a masterpiece; absolutely insanely in love with the books (great read esp. for HP fanfic writers, some authors should take this to heart:P) - Der Maedchenmaler ~ german thriller which i very much enjoyed reading - Zorro ~ Isabelle Allende's version that is ;) she writes the most amazing books (Portrait in Sepia and Eva Luna might be my favourites XD ) - Tod und Teufel ~ Frank Schaetzing's best book yet :) again in german - Dan Brown's Books ~ simply stunning how he entwines history, facts and fiction - Merle's Geschichte ~ Kai Meyer, written with so much creativity in german and yet when a translation to english arrived half the book was lost in the pages :'( - The Devil Wears Prada ~ I also need a laugh from time to time :) and this is simply sweet - The Name of the Wind ~ Patrick Rothfuss--particular style but I personally loved it - The Teeth of Gale ~ a rather good book - The book Thief ~ loved :) - Inkdeath ~ didn't fancy the first book, tolerated the second, the third blew me away...Cornelia Funke writes with so much dedication, love and imagination :) i read it in german so I do not know how much of the book's magic was lost in translation (it's sad how this happens sometimes) - John Grisham's thrillers ~ simply different and i like that ;) - Atonement ~ I'm such a fan!! - Censoring an Iranian Love Story ~ so much different from what i expected, picked this up not so long ago and completely fell for the story and the plot within the story, a little dry in parts but worth mentioning - Chocolat ~ the novel, already loved the movie (Johnny Depp:P) and incredible story, anyone who'se seen the movie should definitely read the book and vice-versa...they're different but both jewels :) -The Fortress of Solitude ~ read :) Now, I'll have to chose my side on certain teenage frenzies :S 1. Maximum Ride: James Patterson is a great writer (loved Along Came a Spider and such) but his attempt at young adult fiction caught me somewhat off guard. I started reading the first book and had to force myself to continue...really didn't appreciate his language (he can do better than that) and his inconsistency (you gotta chose between deep characters and emotions and shallow ones, but you can't constantly change your mind about it)! Yeah, I know it's for a younger audience but then they contain some visual violence and their primary weakness is in my opinion dialogue...there you have it, my opinion. That doesn't mean people can't write amazing fanfics about it though :P o.O and I forgot to say that the story is incredibly pertinent and interesting so the plot would be a strength :) 2. Twilight: not sure if I should like or not :S enjoyed reading the books although I thought Edward was far too whiny...uhmm, definitely not a life-changing reading experience! How did this story blow up like it did i cannot say. I do see some potential in Stephenie Meyer though :) i liked the Host and completely loved the excerpt from Midnight Sun I read (lol but it didn't get as far as the whiny part yet...btw this is referring to twilight from Edward's perspective) Overall no i'm not a fan, i do like the cullen's good looks and again there's potential for decent fanfics. 3. The Guardians of Time Trilogy: what shall i say?! you may think i'm a total fan because my first story happened to be one on the GoT series but you are mistaken ;) I did like them when i first read them although they are a quite unoriginal in parts and everyone being perfect and having no social lives is honestly not too believable (i hope i'm not chasing off readers and reviewers here). I marvel at some of the parts in the story which were rather lovely and started a fanfic because the world of GoT is a good base and I wanted my ending :P o.O and almost forgot Curley's other book Old Magic which i did like very much, simple and sweet :) I am always open to reading recommendations ;) I love everything; sci-fi crosses the line a little but can be good as well especially if it is either believable, a treasure trove of imagination and creativity or simply clever...I am not a fan of perfect characters~lovelovelove flaws and particularily love books where the main character isn't the most prominent in the story and plot (HP being one of the few eceptions) have a happy life XD Lix |
