I love "Harry is rescued from the Dursleys" stories but never found one that was quite right. So I had to write one myself.

Harry never could have predicted how much his life would change after making a surprising discovery at the Dursley household the summer before Second Year. The young wizard returns to school looking for answers, and ends up finding a whole lot more. Snape/Harry mentor fic. No slash.

Gilderoy Lockhart is exactly the type of pompous Peacock who would bring his own personal assistant to Hogwarts with him. Veronica is overworked, under-appreciated and doesn't get paid nearly enough money to put up the likes of Gilderoy Lockhart. and yet there she is. Sticks to Canon story line.

The story starts with a description of Severus Snape's encounter with Voldemort after Harry's return to Hogwarts at the end of The Goblet of Fire. It describes what he had to do to become a Death Eater. The story ends with Snape's thoughts during Dumbledore's comments at the leaving feast.

It was bad enough that I got shot by a psychotic flasher while at work, but to later find out that I've been reborn as the Mary-Sue twin sister of Lucius Malfoy just has to be the icing on the cake. Although, these Mary Sue powers could come in handy... you know what, screw it. Why NOT use them to mess with canon? This is gonna be fun...
