![]() This profile is a work in progress. It's just kind of a list of things I like right now, but I'm not really sure what else to do with it, since I don't have any profound insights to dazzle you with. Preferred pairings: Pretty much any yuri pairing if the story itself is interesting enough. I'm too picky to read fics for only things I've actually seen/read, so despite having read tons of Glee and Twilight fanfic, I've never seen Glee and hate Twilight. No offense meant to those who like it - I'm just not interested in canon. But here's what I have seen/read, and enjoyed. Things I like: Manga: Newer books: The Discworld series, by Terry Pratchett (may he rest in peace, though he's not dead while his name is still spoken). I don't read fanfiction of these. Videogames (for the gameplay) Visual novels: Favourite League of Legends champions: Caitlyn, Lux, Ahri (I don't play any more). Favourite fanfiction: In addition to the ones on this site, some ones I particularly liked: Accounts on other sites (Tumblr, AO3, SB, SV, Anonkun, livejournal, wordpress...): Don't have any. I do lurk on AO3, SB/SV/QQ and Anonkun but not Fictionpress. I'm a long-time lurking reader and not much of a writer - I have serious (and not really unjustified since it is technically fine but rather non-descriptive) issues with being harshly critical of my own writing. Also, most of my creative energy gets burned up by other things. Sorry. As a random final thought... let's talk about -deres! Specifically, tsunderes and yanderes, and my own feelings on them. I actually like non-violent tsunderes. I think the blushing and grumbling is cute. Noire (Hyperdimension Neptunia), Yukine Chris, Kawamura Reo, and Weiss Schnee (the fanon one is a tsundere of this type; the canon one isn't really) are adorable. By contrast, tsunderes from series which make heavier use of violence as slapstick, like Akane Tendo (Ranma 1/2) and Louise Valliere (Zero no Tsukaima) are not good examples of this, and even at their best I don't actually like them that much. ...Please try to ignore the fact that all of the positive examples I gave are from yuri series and all of the negative examples I gave aren't. I also find mild yanderes interesting. The critical positive trait is a (obsessive) dedication to making the target of affection happy as well as just being with them, and a willingness to listen to them, rather than treating them like a prized possession and not actually caring what they think. I mean, yes, obviously axe-murdering, kidnapping, and such are bad, but there is a difference between doing those because you think they'll make someone else happy, and doing them for selfish reasons. Miyu Edelfelt (Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya) is an awesome character, though you could probably argue that she's actually a kuudere, being kuu to everyone else and dere to Illya. Hard to think of another canon example because this type of borderline yandere fixation is rare in characters who aren't full-on classic murderously jealous yanderes. |
