It had been weeks since their boggart lesson with the new professor Lupin, but every time Draco thought about it, it sent his heart beating through his chest.
He considered himself lucky that the professor had stopped before potter, inevitably leaving him out too. The professor probably thought potter was too weak to handle whatever was in the closet. At least Draco wasn't scared of hiding in the closet anymore he thought smugly.
He hadn't told crabbe or goyle about his bisexuality, they were probably too thick to understand anyway. He had come to enjoy himself finding he was bisexual, especially experimenting with the muggle boy who lived in the village near his manor, he thought with a grin.
From around the corner he heard voices becoming louder and he wiped the grin off his face.
'I told you, Ron, for the last time I am not going to do your potions essay for you!'
'Oh come on Hermione, I'll do anything!'
'I don't care Ron, i'm not doing your work for you!'
They rounded the corner and Draco had to internally stop himself from doing anything stupid as he saw her round the corner.
Hermione Granger. Draco had always valued intelligence, and there wasn't anyone more intelligent than her. She was beautiful in her own way too, her hair brown and wavy, her eyes were always alight with that spark behind it, that made him know she was thinking of something brilliant.
Not that she would ever know, though. He might have said something, if she weren't always followed around by that bumbling oaf of a boy weasley, and potter. He wouldn't have minded potter if he hadn't rejected him that time when they had met on their first day of hogwarts, that had hurt him more than he could admit.
'Malfoy.' Weasley said, dragging his thoughts away from hermione.
'What is it Weaselbee? Not too tough when potter's not around eh?'
'Speak for your self malfoy, are crabbe and goyle lurking 'round the corner or are you really stupid enough to walk around by yourself?'
'You'd know all about being stupid wouldn't you weasley? That's your life isn't it, poor and dumb, what a stunning combo.'
Weasley started to roll his sleeves up, but hermione pushed down his arms.
'Leave it Ron, i need to talk to him anyway.'
He looked like he was going to argue but took one look at Hermione's face and stalked off.
Draco looked at Hermione, and tried not to look too interested in what she had to say. His heart pounded in his chest as she walked toward him.
'I saw you cheating off my test in charms the other day, Malfoy. Don' think i didn't realise why you've been sitting closer to me now that all our exams are coming up.'
He grimaced, he had been trying to get closer to her but not for the reasons she might have realised.
'Hermione,' He said. 'I didn't copy off you, i don't need to.' he tried to think up of an insult but couldn't bring himself to say it.
'So what were you really doing then?' She accused.
He fumbled for an answer, but then realised that this could be one of his few chances to say how he felt.
'Well?'
'Hermione, i really like you.'
He wish he could take a photo of her face in that moment, as it was one of the funniest he had ever seen, despite the overwhelming sense that he had just destroyed any future he had with Hermione.
'You what?!' She almost yelled, but lowered her voice. 'What the hell are you saying Malfoy?'
'What i'm saying,' He fumbled around for the words in his mouth. 'I really like you hermione, and i know that you probably won't ever feel the same way but i just want you to know.'
Her face softened. 'Draco,' She whispered. His heart flew into his mouth as she said his first name. "Draco,' she said again, with maddening softness.
'What! i'm sorry if i offended you! Just please don't tell anyone.' He pleaded.
She looked up at him and he prepared himself for the worst, and did not see it coming when she lent toward him and pressed her lips against his, he pulled back, but when he looked into her eyes, he saw his own desire mirrored across hers.
He lifted her chin up and gently kissed her again, afraid of scaring her away.
Letting go her her fears he dropped his bag and wrapped his hands around her back, massaging his hands through her hair, wanting to fell every inch of her before she let go of him.
'Draco,' She whispered. He kissed her again, but she pulled away from him, disentangling herself from his hands. 'Draco i can't, I'm sorry.' She spun around and sprinted down the corridor, not before he could yell out to her, 'Why?'
She looked down, the corridor and he could swear he saw a tear in her eye. 'Because harry loves you too,'
She ran off before he could begin to comprehend what she said.
