Author has written 6 stories for Harry Potter. Hello all! If you're reading any of my fanfics I really hope you like them! And I apologize because I can't write too often as my schedule is very hectic all the time :( But I will try to do my best to update as often as possible! Some things about me: I'm from Chile! :) My first language is Spanish, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes or lack of knowledge of British expressions. I love dancing, travelling and reading fanfictions :D I'm a big Harry Potter fan! Favorite characters: Ginny: She's my favorite character of all time, and I really wish JK Rowling had given her more participation in the series! Yes, at the beginning she only liked Harry for his fame and acted like an idiot, but she was 11, she can't be blamed for that! If I had come down in pijamas only to find Daniel Radcliffe in my kitchen at that age I'd have acted the same way (And I'd have definitely only fancied him because he was Daniel Radcliffe). I think a lot of people blame her for her initial personality, but she developed a lot during the series, into a courageous, honest and beautiful teen. I also think she became a lot more emotionally mature than other characters, and it showed in little things that really stood out for me. For example, I loved when she said she couldn't go with Harry to the ball because Neville had already asked her. It shows that she had really matured, and that she was willing to give up something she really desired for loyalty to a friend. She could have perfectly cancelled on Neville and gone with Harry, which a lot of people at 13 would do. It's a lot more mature than Ron and Hermione, that when they liked each other all they tried to do was make each other jealous instead of working around the problem. I also loved that she defended Neville and Luna openly during the series, she really stood up for the weak when few people did. The one time I didn't like how she acted was when she told Harry she had never quit hoping on him. It really disappointed me, because I think that even though now she got to know him and likes him for being Harry, a part of her is still dazzled by the boy-who-lived thing, even if she doesn't know it. I think that was her big mistake, and I'd have loved for her to actually give up and date other people without thinking about Harry, and then start liking him again for a totally different reason than being her childhood hero (Hence why I'm writing When Ginny Met Dean, in which she actually realizes this). Hermione: Also one of my favorite characters, though I hate her initial personality of idealizing authority and putting rules before people. But just like Ginny, I think she can't be blamed for that, she was 11 and had never had friends her age, probably the teachers had been the only ones to defend her all the time. I love how she matured during the series, and how she started valuing her friends more than anything. I also love that she's so smart and passionate about learning, and that she loves challenges. She's really great at magic, doesn't learn only to get good grades but because she really loves it, and never stops once she puts her mind on something. Of course she has flaws, she is very proud and a bit too obsessed with being the best, and she always thinks she's right, which makes her very close-minded and hurtful sometimes. Nevertheless, she can't be a complete character without flaws, and I think they mesh perfectly well with her. What I love most about Hermione though has nothing to do with her brains. I love that she's so compassionate with people, and that she's always trying to help everyone have better lives, like Neville, Hagrid and the house-elves. And I love that she gives her all for Harry and Ron. Honestly, I think they don't appreciate her enough and sometimes she should just tell them to shove it and forget about them. Ron is always picking on her and Harry never defends her, even when he thinks she's right. I don't think they deserve her sometimes. Harry: He's a very complex, damaged and flawed character, due to what he has lived and his traumas due to the Dursleys. Despite that, he's able to have a heart of gold, and always wants to help everyone who deserves it and who doesn't, no matter what they have done to him, which I really admire. I think life is too hard for him and he deserves better than all the things that happen to him in the series, which he doesn't even defend from, and that someone should really help him cope with it instead of expecting him to be strong and sticking him with his relatives (which is why I'm writing The Benefits of Normality). He's an amazing leader when he's passionate about what he's talking about, like it showed in the DA and Quidditch. Nevertheless, he's very insecure about standing up to Ron, even when he doesn't agree with him and he's being mean to Hermione or other people. He holds back and is not interested in school work, though I think that was stamped out of him as a young boy, because he's clearly very powerful if he can produce a Patronus and resist the Imperius curse. What I don't like about him is his temper, though that's also a product of depression. He takes it out on a lot of people, and doesn't really think things through. Also, I found it strange how he gets angry when people he's never even talked to don't believe him (about the chamber, the goblet, Voldemort). Why would they if all they've heard is the opposite side of the story? He never makes any effort to tell anyone about it, and we could all see that when he actually did (thanks to Hermione and Luna) a lot of people believed him. That's why in my story, someone helps him cope with this things and he starts handling his emotions and temper better. Favorite Ships: Harry/Ginny: I really think they are great together, their personalities mesh really well! I think Ginny can help Harry be more bold and stand up more to people instead of accepting everything. I also like that she doesn't question Harry excessively and searches for practical solutions to his problems instead of dismissing them like Ron and Hermione sometimes do. Hermione/Fred-or-George: I think their personalities really complement the other's! The twins are really smart, even if most people don't realize it, and I think they can be a very positive influence on Hermione, because they teach her to stress less, and that knowledge/intelligence can be very creative and can come from yourself instead of only from books. I also think Hermione can help them mature, because she makes them be more conscious of the consequences of their actions. I think they could have excellent debates about different branches of magic and never get bored together. Hermione needs someone who challenges her intellectually but at the same time make her less serious, and I think the twins can do just that. Rose/Scorpious: I just love the whole prejudice thing, and them slowly realizing what they thought was mistaken as they get to know each other, and start changing their views of the world thanks to each other. The next pairings I like for exactly the same reason. James/Lily Andromeda/Ted Ginny/Blaise Hermione/Blaise I also really like Harry, Ginny and Hermione with random people from the series or OCs if it's well done. Well, except Harry/Daphne maybe, I used to like it but now find it way too overrrated. Ships I hate: Ron/Hermione: Ugh, I can't believe JK Rowling put them together. I get that they have sexual tension, and that Ron helps her be less serious and Hermione can help him mature, and I understand that the "opposites attract" thing sometimes works. But that would never ever work long term for them. Honestly, Ron is a selfish brat most of the time and Hermione deserves so much better than him, at least someone that pays attention to others' needs instead of his own all the time. That aside, they would get completely bored with each other when they are not bickering. I mean, Ron would talk about Quidditch and Hermione would have nothing to add, and would not be at all interested, and viceversa with the magic she learns/invents or causes she supports. The sexual tension thing works well when they are teens, but after that, they can't have a healthy relationship without being able to talk about their passions and have real conversations. Harry/Hermione: I've always found the chemistry they had in the book was as very good friends or even siblings, not romantic at all. Harry never felt any urge to be with Hermione, nor did she. Yes, he thought she was pretty, but it's proven that the longer you're friends with people the prettier you find them, and it doesn't have to mean romantic interest. Also, I think Hermione didn't bring the best out of Harry, since she always wanted to do better than him and ordered him around too much, instead of letting him think autonomously. He didn't especially trust her with his feelings or had any special tension or chemistry with her. On that same note, I think Hermione would get bored of Harry after a while, she needs someone that can challenge her intellectually and appreciates and participates in her quest for knowledge, and Harry doesn't really do that. It always seemed like even if she admired some things about him, she always looked at him as a little brother who she needed to help. Clearly, looking condescendingly at someone doesn't really help you have romantic feelings for them. Things I hate when I read them in fanfics: Harry/Multi: Ew...Setting back equal gender rights back centuries there, so no more explanation needed. No self-respecting female character would ever go for that unless they could also have multiple partners. Obsessed-with-money-and-glory-Ginny: That's just so far from canon that I can't even fathom how people turned her childhood crush on a celebrity (which almost EVERYONE has had) into her being obsessed with the money and glory Harry brings when they are teens or adults. Those two things have nothing to do with each other! First, Ginny liked Harry because he was the hero of her childhood stories thus she had idealized him as the perfect prince charming, not because being with him would bring her fame! (She was 11, that kind of thought is way too complex for an 11 year old!) Plus, how did people get the idea that she was interested in fame for herself or money? She didn't mention either in the entire series! That's more Ron's boat, and just because she's his sister and also poor doesn't mean she has to want the same things. Stealing-or-love-potion-Ginny/Molly: Also such a crazy tendency that I can't believe so many people support it. Already explained my thoughts on Ginny. About Molly, she's definitely not my favorite character. She's way too overprotective, closed-minded, conservative, and thinks she has the right to decide for everyone what's best for their own life, especially her own children, which I find really annoying. That aside, she's one of the most generous characters in the series, and has never complained about money! She knows that the love in her family is more important than that. Also, she's ridiculously correct and self-righteous, always telling her sons off for the smallest cruelties and faults. Her moral fiber would never let her steal or manipulate someone with a love potion! And Ginny learnt from her. Just because people don't like a character because of specific traits doesn't mean they have to defile their whole personality! That's just not credible. |
