Modern AU. Enjolras is a law student at one of the top universities in Paris and leader of one of the busiest clubs on campus. Eponine works long hours in a small bookstore to provide for her emotionally-distant and withdrawn siblings at home. Neither has the luxury, or the desire, for a relationship. But they can only notice each other so many time before they start to wonder.

When Marius goes one step too far with taking Eponine for granted, Enjolras decides to show Eponine what it's like to be treated well, for once in her life. But perhaps a slight taste of happiness isn't worth all the heartache...

The revolution succeeds. Enjolras confronts reality, both political and personal, while Eponine is faced with a series of opportunities. What happens when they must guide each other in this strange new world that needs them as much as they need it?

Enjolras is the cold-blood leader of the Friends of the ABC, and he cares only for the Revolution and his mistress is France. Although, when he meets a brunette young woman, with strong beliefs like himself, his solitude pierces him like a knife.

"'We shall hold fast for as long as there is breath. We shall endure for as long as there is hope,' he promises in a voice fairer than gold and brighter than glory. 'Damn,' she sighs, 'there goes my weekend.'" The revolution lasts longer than expected, and Enjolras and Éponine go a little stir-crazy at the barricade.

The barricade has fallen, the rebellion has been suppressed. Les Amis are all dead, and Eponine has followed suit. In this purgatory-like Heaven they have been trapped in, they are given a final chance to right a wrong from their lives. They are not told what this wrong is, but they are unable to pass on until they do so correctly. Eventual E/E
