Canon up until the last interaction between Emma and Hook in "Tallahassee", then veers off into "what-if" land. Yep, it's another "suppose Emma hadn't left Hook on the beanstalk" story. Why would she do that? How might things have gone differently if she had?

The Doctor and Clara end up in California during the Gold rush. Chased by outlaws lead by a mysterious leader, they use the help of a miner named Sam to escape. The TARDIS is gone, friends fall into danger, and the Doctor begins to realize he can't run from everything - not from love. Suspensful, timey wimey whouffle goodness.

The TARDIS strands Eleven at Clara's — six years later than he meant to arrive. Trapped across his timeline and up to his delicate eyebrows in spoilers, he receives a cryptic message from Twelve: one of his former companions is in danger, and he'll need the help of the others to save her. It's a reunion the Doctor would love to remember... but the laws of time doom him to forget.

Clara doesn't survive after she jumps into the Doctor's time stream. Years later, he is travelling alone when he's stranded in one of the bleakest moments in human history. It was the last place he ever hoped to see her again.

A tiny bit of regeneration energy passed onto Clara during Time of the Doctor and it did something impossible.

Set after Trenzalore. Clara was permanently damaged after jumping into the Doctor's timestream, but the Doctor chooses to ignore it. He can only run from the truth for so long before he has to face consequences. He's losing Clara, slowly. She was the only mystery worth solving - now she's the only person worth saving. Can he save her in time, before the real Clara is lost forever?

The Doctor and Clara are stranded in the Scottish countryside in the dead of winter after the TARDIS disappears on them. They try to warm each other up and stumble upon some rather effective "antifreeze" techniques in the process.

When the echoes of a million lifetimes threaten to tear Clara's mind apart, she's rescued by the last savior she'd ever expect: that 'grumpy old cow', the TARDIS. Why isn't there more Fic of Fatal Death? Why didn't the Doctor simply retire? Why do so many Companions wear high heels when exploring other planets? This fic doesn't necessarily answer any of these questions, or maybe it does, or at least tries really really hard. We'll explain later.

AU. Dr. John Smith gave up on life and his career after the deaths of his best friends. When he meets a feisty nurse named Clara, who demands he return to his practice, he's not looking to save anyone else. Written for a prompt on tumblr. Clara is angry with The Doctor for almost getting Angie and Artie killed. Desperate to avoid being slapped, The Doctor tries to find a way to placate his infuriated companion.
