Author has written 5 stories for StarTrek: The Original Series. I'm old enough to remember when Star Trek: TOS first aired, though we didn't know at the time what a historic event that was. I have a husband of more than 35 years with whom I'm still passionately in love. I have four grown children (no grandkids yet) whom I am pleased to call friends. It is through the encouragement of one of them that I am finally posting what I wrote years ago, and had intended to be just for family and close friends. I have written five TOS novel-length stories. All are sequential and should be read in order. They are an AU that takes off at some point following ST:IV and before ST:VI. All seven main characters have opted to remain on the Enterprise, and Starfleet lets them because of the results achieved by their remarkable rapport. The first story was intended to be stand-alone, but the rest of it came bubbling forth and wouldn't be denied. I apologize in advance for the loose ends that don't get explained until the last story. The impetus for this series began with a conversation around the dinner table, most of which I don't recall. I do remember the kids all enjoyed it when Mom put off the work of the day in favor of telling some rambling personal history, or encouraging philosophical debate of some kind. This was one of the latter. The question before the house was: What if Kirk and Spock became Christians? I don't remember what brilliant ideas were batted back and forth, or even who brought up the question. But I was sufficiently intrigued with the idea to attempt to write a story around the concept. These five stories are the result. Obviously I am a Christian, or this idea wouldn't even have occurred. Also obviously, this can't be canon, but I have attempted to be true to the personalities as portrayed in TOS. I don't apologize for presenting Christian doctrine, but you can probably skip those paragraphs and still enjoy the story. This is definitely a Star Trek adventure, not a theological treatise. For those who enjoy the close relationship between Kirk and Spock, it's definitely a strong part of the story. But you won't find any slash here. Nonetheless, be warned, there's a fair amount of various kinds of pain and torture. Nobody dies, at least not irrevocably, and we eventually get to a happy ending. Disclaimer: Paramount owns Star Trek and all the main characters. I have created some of my own characters, and of course, these stories are mine, for better or worse. If you want to borrow any of my characters, please ask me first. I hope you enjoy these tales as much as my family does. PS: The name Truvoyal is an amalgamation of several words: trust, truth, valor, voyage, and loyalty. These concepts are what, in my opinion, makes Star Trek such an enduring universe. November, 2014 update: I had very intention of finishing this project in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the best-laid plans... So my apologies. The daughter who got me started on this project joined the Navy and was unavailable to help edit for most of a year, then only for an hour or so on some weekends. But she still wants to see those stories online, so we're finally ready to post the rest of it. I have added a note to the beginning of the first story in response to those reviews that wanted some warning about where the story was headed, with regard to Christianity. Hope that helps avoid the angry responses. |
