AU. Fantine gave birth to twin girls, and after her death, Valjean has promised to raise both Cosette and Eponine. Over the years, he will learn to love and his treasured daughters will learn to be loved-first by their father, and later by two handsome revolutionaries. Eventual Enjonine and Mariette.

Modern AU. Since they have moved in together, it has become clear that the barricade boys (and Éponine) need a list of guidelines for proper conduct within the house. Enjolras/Eponine, Marius/Cosette and Courfeyrac/Jehan.

What if it was Jehan Prouvaire who was the one to lay eyes upon the fair Cosette first, not Marius Pontmercy? What if Cosette joined the revolution because of a few simple words that changed her life? One look, a string of words, fearless men, and countless lives was all it took for her world to flip.

It was hard enough for Javert to raise a son on his own, but now that he's leading a revolution under the name of Enjolras and running around with a gamine named Éponine, he must decide what's more important, justice or a son's love? Enjolras; for learning was his love, France was his mistress, and the men he surrounded himself with were his brothers. But when he gets lonely, he makes a hasty choice and sends his world spiraling out of control. And he drags every other poor soul down with him.

Marius rejoices in the fact that Eponine and Enjolras have survived, and makes a place for them in his new life with Cosette. Marius and Cosette learn that love is a cornerstone, but not the entire foundation, Eponine learns that people do not always do as you expect them to, and Enjolras learns that while his revolution has failed, little revolutions can happen every day.

In which the author uses the common what-if phrase. What if instead of Valjean staying and rescuing Marius, he leaves with Cosette to sail across the sea? What will happen the rest? Will Marius fall with his friends? Will Eponine get shot at the barricade? Hope you enjoy! :D

If Cosette's note had not fallen into the wrong hands, Marius would have met her the night before she and Valjean left for England. But the barricade would never have had its saviour, leaving Enjolras to make a life or death decision. More info inside!
