How I got into Writing I started writing when I was eleven. During those days, I was very eager into what kind of career I would be committing myself to. I thought of a variety of different things: fighter pilot, film actor, archaeologist, and others. I never thought of becoming a writer since I was so new to story-writing, I had no idea on how the writing process was done. During that certain point in my life, video games and japanese animation were constant. I played video games nearly all the time and anime was probably the only thing i would watch (that and Wheel of Fortune). Those two elements greatly effected my writing and they have still constant influence in my life to this day. Anyways, while I was in middle school, I had gotten somewhat frustrated with the stories in the video games I played and the anime I watched. I mean, was that all there was to it? Save the universe and that's it? Rescue the princess, get a peck on the cheek and then go away?? Why?! I thought of it being very idiotic for the story to finish simply when the game was over. I wanted more! I wanted to expand the adventure and even make new ones with characters I was familiar with. That's when I thought of "The Brand New Adventures of Sonic H. McCloud". Being a mixture of Star Fox, Sonic the Hedgehog, Lunar 2 Eternal Blue and a slight bit of Dragonball Z, this was a simple tale about a hedgehog who travels from the Blue Star to Mobius in order to warn the people of a certain threat coming to their world. Unfortunately, as this hedgehog was about to give out some crucial information pertaining to the threat, he gets flung into a transporter and warps to Corneria in the Lylat System. He then becomes entangled in the Star Fox team when he falls for a vixen who is trying to get enlisted on the mercenary's crew. It was a story that only lasted three chapters. It wasn't that good of a tale but that didn't really matter much. What mattered was the fact of HOW I was writing, not what. The way I had written it was in script form. I was writing setting, dialogue and action the entire time and I had no idea that i was actually writing a play. Being so young, I thought that this was how a novel was supposed to be written. Either way, my parents were surprised at how well I wrote that small piece even if it made no sense. With their further support, I decided to become a professional writer. However, as life went on, my creative energy for writing slowly dimmed from a career to a casual hobby. I still write from time to time and am trying to gain my creative energy back by blogging, which is actually working. However, i have found i have an aptitude towards editing. It's become something of a passion since i really do enjoy it. Currently, i am working towards a career of professional editing. |
