[AU, combines the TV show and comics] [Origin story] When Barry Allen was 8 years old, his father, Jay Garrick, sacrificed himself to save the universe. One month later, his mother died while surrounded by a tornado of red and yellow lightning. Now 25 years old, the crisis that killed his father is back, but without a Flash, who will save the universe?

A shot rings out... a boy takes an oath... and the bat is born. After his previous crime fighting methods have proven ineffective, Bruce Wayne decides to become the Batman to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. In his first outing, Batman quickly gets in over his head as he uncovers the mysterious organization, Hydra, has been operating in Gotham since their defeat in WW2.
