Author has written 1 story for NCIS. I'm new to writing and the only TV show I'm planning to write fanfictions for right now is NCIS. Usually I prefer to read. I just started watching NCIS two and a half years ago and somehow became addicted. I started from season one and my favorite character is Tony (or maybe I should say ‘was’ because I loved the Tony from the first seasons and not the incompetent clown from later seasons). I loved the first seasons. It had really good characters, humor and I liked the dynamics between the characters as well Unfortunately later on the show lost everything I liked. The cases became boring, the characters flat/one dimensional, the dynamics drastically changed without any obvious reason and the background stories are now all the same (I just say… ‘daddy issues’ so Gibbs can play Papa for everyone) which I think is boring as well. What I dislike most is Tony’s ‘development’. In the first seasons he was a character with many layers. He sometimes played the fool but you always knew that he’s actually smart and competent. He cared for others and took his job seriously. He came back to work at night and when people thought he was lazy he actually had the job already done, he had good ideas which helped solve the cases. He could lead an investigation on his own and even Gibbs made clear he trusted him with that. Then in later seasons (I would say it started with season 4 or 5) he gradually lost his competence and was treated like an idiot. He became a clown that didn’t do his job, was silly all the time and couldn’t do a thing right. Hell, he wasn’t even able to bring a key from the car to the office without losing it in the elevator… His only ideas were ‘check the ex’ and he had maybe a good moment or two per season. While he was good with people in the first seasons no one cared or liked him later on (witnesses, visitors, team members). When anything went wrong it was usually Tony who was made responsible - even if it wasn't his fault or not his alone. And I could go on like this. Honestly, what happened? It makes absolutely no sense to me. It is as if someone tried to continue a story from someone else without understanding what the character was about and totally ruined him. The dynamics between the Characters… Everyone in the team has someone very close to them, except Tony: Jimmy – Breena, Jimmy – Ducky , Ducky – Gibbs; Gibbs – Abby, Abby – McGee and lately also McGee – Gibbs and McGee – Delilah (and before season 11 Gibbs-Ziva, Abby-Ziva). And what about Tony? He seems to have no one at all. I think the closest right now would be Ducky. In the first seasons Abby and Tony were really good friends – now they barely talk to each other; Gibbs didn’t always treat him the best but he trusted him and had his back, now there is nothing: no trust, no care, no respect. One ‘good job’, ‘I trust you’ or ‘I depend on you’ per season doesn’t do it for me. Yes, I know I wrote a lot about Tony here but he was just my favorite and somehow he's the one that was changed the most (in a bad way). I love to read stories where Tony is strong, competent and smart. He doesn't need to be a superhero but I love to see the old Tony :-) I also think he deserves some more personal life and maybe a nice girlfriend (one that can see the real Tony and likes him the way he is). In the last seasons it looked like Tony sits alone at home not doing anything (except watching movies) most of the time when he doesn't work. That's really sad because he seemed to be a person that likes to spent his time with other people. I liked Abby and Gibbs as well but they're not what they used to be... Sometimes I just want to hit them and sometimes I want the old version back. I can't really decide ;-) I'ver never been a Tiva fan so I definitley won't write anything with Tiva in it. I never even saw friendship between them. Especially after the whole Rivkin story. It was also as if Tony was only there for Tiva storylines. Now that she isn't on the show anymore it looks like the writers don't know what to do with Tony anymore. |
