Hello,

My name is Amelia. I'm 23 years old and a junior in University. I have a BA in English Education with an intention to teach secondary English and write, as most people on this site. I also have an affinity for drawing and other forms of physical art such as yarn crafts like knitting and crocheting, playing video games, film, and reading everything I can get my hands on.

I have been writing creatively since I was in elementary school. Through out the years I have gone through spurts of writing where I spend most of my time attached to my computer, forgetting to sleep and eat, and others where I don't even think about thinking about writing. Yet I have always wanted to get more serious about writing. It is something I am truly passionate about and can make the worst of days better. However, I am a very busy person and I have convinced myself that I do not have time to write every day. Being a full time student with social obligations, clubs, and a small part-time job tends to take most of my waking hours away. I of course am making excuses, because even a person as busy as me has at least fifteen minutes to write every day, but I digress.

As I have grown older, and matured, I have become more thoughtful when it comes to what I put out into the Internet. Back when I first made this account I would post things without a second thought, and usually without proofreading. These were more often than not horrible ideas, flawed from the ground up, and thrown together with the typical adolescent writing techniques that scream amateur. Fortunately I learned that just because I think it does not mean I should post it. Since learning this lesson I have been more critical of my own work, and exponentially more hesitant when posting. This is both negative and positive for those who happen to enjoy my work. It is negative because I upload so infrequently. Trust me when I say I fully understand the frustration of falling in love with a story only to find out it has not been updated since 2013. However, this is positive because the work I put out is what I deem to be quality work. It is created to the best of my ability, crafted with care and consideration. I only post works that I am truly proud of.

This being said, I have one fatal flaw that gets in the way of my writing sometimes. I am dyslexic, and the irony does not escape me. Despite my best efforts, and years of specialized tutoring, sometimes very large and obvious mistakes make their way past my attention. I pay special care to proofread my work multiple times, using many different means to make sure I catch all that I can but it is not full proof. I am human. I make mistakes. I am gracious to people who can help me see what I have missed in a polite, non-demeaning way.

I have a strong love for the supernatural, more specifically Vampires. I adore the creatures of the night, the unloved, the forgotten, and the mistreated. I tend to gravitate towards darker elements, and love the horror genera overall. I tend to take inspiration from all around me, and depending on what I am currently reading/watching/listening to determine what my work will reflect. This year I have challenged myself to read a book a week so it shall be interesting to see how this is represented in my work.
