I read what you write. That's pretty much it. I used to post a few stories on this website some years ago. I had a different account back then, but I've forgotten my login information and closed down the email address it was attached to. I had a story called "7 Second Life." It was a Mass Effect fanfic following a group of fresh Marines being deployed to the Citadel to conduct security operations after the Reaper attack. I had a good story going; it was actually going to be fairly surprising and dark after a chipper start. But, life happened. I experienced much the same thing my characters were about to go through (sans epic space journey), and managed to make it out okay, but I lost my writing ability. I'm not as eloquent as I used to be. I still write some, but it's mostly original stuff that isn't really fan fiction of any type. I've got one book about 70% complete, and the first chapters of two more books in the series written. Now that some time has passed, I'm attempting to finish off the original book. I mostly read Jurassic Park/World fanfiction to feed the dinosaur addiction I've had since I was just a small child. Most of my friends don't realize I still like dinosaurs, and they don't really care so I just keep it to myself. To be clear, I like paleontology as a science, but my true interest is in the theropod predators. Namely, the raptors. I know the JP raptors aren't exactly accurately portrayed. I still think it's fun, though. I seem to be able to empathize with predators more than prey species, and always find myself rooting for them in movies and books. My personal favorite raptor is either Utahraptor or the more recently discovered Dakotaraptor. Either one is incredibly awesome. I also read a lot of Naruto fanfiction. I am and always was a NaruSaku fan, and was totally destroyed with the cannon ending of Shippuden. I'm a sap for a good romance story, and that ending was a tragedy. Lastly, I figured I might comment on how my screen name was chosen, but it's fairly convoluted and unimportant. Suffice it to say that it's true; I am not a turnip. - DNAT |
