Post-Civil war, Edward and Jasper come home after a cattle-drive, greeted by his little sis, 16 year old Bella Marie. She is pressing Edward to let her be courted by the neighbor's son. Bella had always hoped she could marry Edward seeing as she is adopted, brought to their family as an infant by Edward's now deceased father. Edward allows Paul to call. That's when trouble comes.

If I was going to write another story it would be something like this...Charlie sheriff, Bella home from Chicago after getting fired, Edward across the street, Charlie's deputy, divorced father of son Juney. She's always had a thing for him, but he's so darn loyal to Charlie and now he's got a girlfriend. He thinks Bella is still a kid. He always pinches the wrong set of cheeks.

1872 brothers Edward and Jasper return from the war to rebuild the farm. Edward has a son, eighteen. The three bachelors work sun up and down. Edward visits Forks twice a year for supplies and to scratch an itch with a woman there. When he finds her sick he makes a snap decision to take her home. He has no idea who she really is. And how lonely they are at home. Trouble.

No one has lived next door since the murder that happened there in 1997. One day Bella looks out her window and a compellingly handsome man is moving in. Bella doesn't date.
