Secrets have a way of festering even when they should stay buried. A year after the treaty, the Duke of Savoy still wants answers about his missing chancellor. So when Athos and Porthos arrive with royal missives, he's not going to waste the opportunity to get what he wants.

All in all, it could have been worse. Athos was a man of few words anyway. Aramis was a better shot while blindfolded than anyone in the garrison with their sight.
