![]() Author has written 16 stories for Nightmare Before Christmas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Phantom of the Opera, Penguins of Madagascar, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Hello, my fellow authors and authoresses! Just to let you know - if I don't update a lot, it's because my life outside of this is kinda busy. So deal with it - I'll get to updating soon enough!! My hobbies are: anything onstage. Drama, music, oral interp, marching band... I'm a total geek. Also, I like knitting and writing these stories. I like fanfictions, because it's so much easier to borrow ideas for settings and some characters from someone else than make them up on your own ; ). When it comes to settings especially , I'm not really creative enough - yet. I hope to become an Broadway actress when I grow up… but in case that doesn't happen, I'm currently attending college to pursue an English degree to become an editor. That's right, people - beta me UP!!! Age: 19 Name: Jill... not saying anything else Location: A small town in South Dakota... not telling you which one, and there's a lot of them :) Now about the South Dakota thing, here's the answers to your questions: Yes, we have electricity; Yes, we have running water; No, I don't live on a farm or in a log cabin; No, I didn't learn in a one-room schoolhouse; no, I don't know how to ride a horse or milk a cow; and yes, my friends have all gone out of state and been asked these questions. Someone didn't believe that my friend Blake was from South Dakota because he wasn't wearing a cowboy hat. Pathetic. Oh, and by the way, the weather DOES usually suck. That IS true. Birthday: October 7th Political Views: I don't care about the freaking parties, whoever's best for the job should get it, I say... is that Liberal, maybe? Religious Views: Christian, and proud of it. My personal motto is Phillipians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Occuring themes in my stories: 1. Fathers. I've written several stories focusing on the relationship of father-daughter, some of which are not on this website, but you might recognize A Mistake Turned Beautiful and The Flashback Series: The Final Chapter. I'm trying to make one in which Dr. Facilier from "The Princess and the Frog" had a daughter the whole time, and how that worked out... 2. Music. Especially in the "heart-songs" that appear in almost all of my POM stories, in which I relate a song to each penguin that reveals their true character, and the characters of those they truly love, music plays a huge part in my stories. Almost every story I've ever written includes either a big dancing scene or a song at some point (often both). I know other people say music influences what they write, but I sort of feel differently; music is my whole life. In my story A Mistake Turned Beautiful, I kind of made Simone morph into myself, especially in the scene in which she persuades Erik to teach her music. Music is everywhere I look - maybe it's just that I'm looking for it. 3. Spoofs. I don't really think that's the right word, but what I like to do is re-write a plotline of a play or something of the like that has already been written, and replace it which characters from what ever category I'm writing for (usually - always - POM). My two biggest examples of this are The Green-Eyed Monster (which was based on Othello), The Strange Case of Kowalski and Black (which was the "Jekyll and Hyde" musical) and Dentist! (which was based on a song from "Little Shop of Horrors" - okay, not the most sophisticated musical, but it was still better than a lot of stuff these days). What I'm trying to do is introduce my readers to something better than the (debatable) trash society is forcing upon us (mainly in the forms of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and occasionally Sarah Palin), in a form most people will understand. |
