I've been writing fanfiction stories — some of them more successfully than others — for more than 10 years now. I knew writing was a calling, and so I pursued a journalism career once I graduated college. I write for work, and I try to make the time to write creatively at home to help break out of the dry, 4th-grade level, simple sentences and no Oxford comma structure every once and awhile. I sometimes have nightmares about being unable to write in any form besides newspaper writing. Terrifying.

I love to take pictures of everything around me, and even though I don't technically what I'm doing, being a small-town journalist has allowed me to work on my skills at capturing those perfect moments. Seriously, they give you a giant camera and tell you to figure it out yourself. Intimidating.

I dance — despite my body's protests — I read, and I watch television and movies with my husband. I have a dog, Sadie, and a cat, Clementine. I have a crazy extended family. Don't we all?

Some of my favorite shows, past and present, include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, ER, Angel, Smallville, Inuyasha, True Blood, Breaking Bad, Weeds, and The Mentalist. Some of those lend themselves to fanfiction much easier than others, but I hope some day to tackle all of them, as time permits.
