Link has left Hyrule and it is up to his closest friends to bring him home. While Link believes he is questing in the alternative reality of Termina, his rescuers, with the aid of a mysterious mask salesman, are fighting to keep him going and to prevent him from being trapped in a realm that isn't quite what it seems.
