![]() Author has written 2 stories for Inuyasha, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Hello all, I'm Owlrose. I'm new on the site and I can't wait to start publishing some works. I'm from North Carolina (go Tar Heels!). I'm a bit shy, and I tend to express myself best with words. My hobbies include reading, swimming, drawing, and playing with my pets. I enjoy reading manga, my favorites include Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Naruto. I also enjoy movies. I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I love all of the movies (the OT and to an extent the prequels), and lately I've even gotten into Star Wars the Clone Wars, so I may explore writing some fics for that. I also enjoy anything by Hayao Miyazaki; my favorites include Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke. Drop me a line people, I love reviews. In fact, I'm like Cookie Monster when it comes to people looking at my work; I can't get enough of it. I can take constructive criticism, anything that helps make me into a better writer will be much appreciated. My favorite movie/book quotes: ""Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengence; a vendetta, held not as a votive, not in vain for the veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V. " "Are you like a crazy person?" "I am quite sure they will say so."" I love "V for Vendetta" so I thought I'd include one of my favorite monologues from the movie. "Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot... But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes and I know, in 1605, he attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I've witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I've seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them... but you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it, or hold it... ideas do not bleed, they do not feel pain, they do not love... And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man... A man that made me remember the Fifth of November. A man that I will never forget." Evey Hammond: "Who are you?" V: "Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask." Evey Hammond: "Well I can see that." V: " Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is." "Equality and freedom are not freedoms to be lightly cast aside. Without them, order cannot long endure without approaching depths beyond imagining." -Alan Moore, V for Vendetta "People shouldn't be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." -Alan Moore, V for Vendetta "Behind this mask there is more than just flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea...and ideas are bulletproof." -Alan Moore, V for Vendetta "I didn't put you in a prison, Evey. I just showed you the bars." -Alan Moore, V for Vendetta "Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did." -Sophie Scholl "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it." -Macbeth "I dare do all that may become a man; who dares more is, none." -Macbeth "Screw your courage to the sticking-place." -Macbeth "When our actions do not, our fears do make us traitors." -Macbeth "And thus I clothe my naked villainy/With old odd ends stolen forth from holy writ/And seem a saint when most I play the devil." -Richard III "We are oft to blame, in this-/'Tis too much proved that with devotion's visage/And with pious action we do sugar o'er/The devil himself." -Hamlet "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" -John 15:13 The Lord's Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen "I never heard tell that it's against the law for a citizen to do his utmost to prevent a crime from being committed, which is exactly what he did, but maybe you'll say it's my duty to tell the town all about it and not hush it up. Know what'd happen then? All the ladies in Maycomb includin' my wife'd be knocking on his door bringing angel food cakes. To my way of thinkin', Mr. Finch, taking the one man who's done you and this town a great service an' draggin' him with his shy ways into the limelight – to me, that's a sin. It's a sin and I'm not about to have it on my head. If it was any other man, it'd be different. But not this man, Mr. Finch." "Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand inside his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough." "Well, it'd be sort of like shootin' a mockingbird, wouldn't it?" ""I'd rather you shot at tin can in the in back yard, but I know you'll go after birds. Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit em', but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." That was the only time I heard Atticus say that it was a sin to do something, and I asked Miss Maudie about it. "Your father's right," she said. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."" "Truth and belief are a stallion and a mule." "If a life goes down the toilet it comes out in a river and meets the sea." "Don't you give me that postmodern BS. There is truth, there is a truth. And what you want, or you feel, or you need, isn't going to change the truth. Any more than it's going to topple a sky scrapper. There's truth, and there's belief. Don't call a mule a stallion." "You gotta pay your dues to sing the blues." "If people knew who the angels were, they would be very nice when they saw one and would still do their same evil garbage when they thought none were around. Knowing who they are defeats the purpose." "You're supposed to be kind to everyone, because you never know when you're meeting an angel." "He says you don't often find angels in places like happy homes and rich people's backyard parties. He says that angels flock to places like hospitals and homeless shelters and jails, because those people realize they need help. And do they they are able to believe in strange phenomena. Funny how the world is backward. The really comfortable people don't always see much supernaturally, and to the ones who have to struggle, it's like breathing in their faces. The first are last...and the last are first." "There are times in life to grow, and there are times in life to shine. One can't grow and shine at the same time;it just doesn't work that way. Now you're growing. Tomorrow you'll shine." "Complete happiness can look so much like complete terror that it's hard to tell them apart." "Your neat little version of reality is crumbling Claire." "I had no answers. I was only clear on how I'd spent my life being mad at no one, and all of a sudden, I didn't know who to kill first." "Message from God: do not wish for luck." "If you can understand human behavior, it can't hurt you as much." "I could have winked or smiled or something just be a jerk-but what's the point? People create their own little hells. They don't need my help." "Don't ever try to tell a person their recollections are convenient. They totally believe themselves and will never believe you." "The road goes forever on and on and I will follow it if I can." "One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie" My Quotes: Quotes that I totally made up that describe ME! "Horses are like potato chips; you can't have just one." (Okay they're not all made up just some of them) "Hey, I resemble that remark!" (That one isn't made up either, it's something that my high school French teacher/advisor would say whenever I would say something about him that was completely true-sort of the opposite of "Hey, I resent that remark!") Normalcy is short, weird is forever Hey, I'm reading here! Look it's Frankenkitty! (That's something I say to my little cat Casey, whenever I have him on my bed I like to stand him up on his hind legs and say that because he looks funny when I hold him under his front legs. He's so cute!) "Define normal." (That one's not made up either; it's from one of my favorite books that I've probably lost appropriately named "Define Normal") I'm a dork and proud of it! "What are men compared to rocks and mountains?" "You must learn some of my philosophy, think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure." (Not actually mine; I give credit to Jane Austen for those two) |
