Author has written 2 stories for Fire Emblem, and X-Com. - 4/2/2014 - As a student I loved reading and playing games, for the story (possibilities) that they provide. An alternate telling of the world? Magic, Swords, Spears, Lasers, Flight, Cyberspace, and so on. The myriad of possible events and their consequences captured my attention whenever I started engaging them. I have read the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks when I was younger, my impressionable mind captured by the progress he created of the main character Azoth from a young helpless child to an assassin taking over his master. Perhaps I loved reading and stories before that, but that was when I realised it. Since then, I've read Haruki Murakami's 1Q84and Norwegian Wood, both terrific reads that got me with the serious undertone to a seemingly normal story. Off the top of my head, Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind is a great read with memorable, and quotable, dialogue as well. Nora Robert's Fantasy in Death and The Way of Kingsfrom the Stormlight Archive are pretty great as well, to name a handful. Games are another big part of myself, from the current XCOM, Dota2, Dragon Nest are games that I frequent to the decade-old World of Warcraft, where Gruul, Magtheridon and Karazhan fell before might of the guild I was in. Even before that, Ragnarok Online 1 captured my heart with both a guild that was like a second family to me and a cherished person that was dear to my person as well. Even this moniker "Regan" was brought forward by someone I met online, who kept calling me "reg-reg!" and "reg-rice!" And my past record of games played is really silly to list down, I'm afraid there are at least 25k hours of my life put into them, and counting! Still, some games are like bonfires, you sit beside them and stay for the warmth they provide, before they flicker and you find another fire. Others are like a blaze in a winter's night; you've got a love-hate relationship with them. (I'm looking at you, Dota2 & XCOM!) And there are the memorable ones, that sit in your heart like a hearth fire, cozy and warm whenever you so think of them. I've never actually posted anything I've written till now, which leads to some trepidation when working on pieces. Takes some kinds of being shy to be nervous in front of an audience that are simply leave if they don't like your work, but hey, that's somewhat describing me now. So if you're taking the time to read this, and feel my work needs some praise or blasting, feel free. I won't bite back, promise! And now, I'm serving my National Service as required by legislation to the country. Not the best of places nor times, but I'll get around. Time free here goes into writing, after all! |
