Stargate: SG-1 Future Stories XCom Hades Contingency (XCom and Call of Duty Crossover): In 2015, aliens launch an invasion of Earth. In response, the council of nations selects SAS veteran, MacMillan, to serve as Commander of XCom. Macmillan accepts and draws in a number of contacts and old friends to serve in XCom, including one Captain John Price. However, old friends also bring old enemies. Despite the alien invasion, Imran Zakhaev and Vladimir Makarov refuse to let their grudges die and continue to harass XCom for their connection to MacMillan and Price. (Will include some aspects from the Long War mod) The Demon and his Queen (Infamous): What if Trish was also a Conduit, not just Cole? What if she was near ground zero of the explosion and got her powers at the same time as Cole got his? What if Trish gave Cole a chance to explain himself instead of simply assuming he killed her sister? What would happen then? This story will likely be my second or third in line after the XCom/Call of Duty crossover and/or the Power Rangers/Mass Effect crossover. Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Crossover: After Willow does the spell to restore Angel's soul, her potential as a powerful good witch comes to the attention of the Whitelighter Elders who assign a Whitelighter to watch her and help her train. The Whitelighter they assign to help Willow is none other than Buffy's first watcher, Merrick, who perished while helping her and Pike fight Lothos in Los Angeles. At the same time as Merrick makes his entrance into Sunnydale, Buffy's old friend Pike moves into the town with his mother after a rather touchy divorce and is looking for a fresh start. Mass Effect and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Crossover: Two and a half years after the Reaper war, Liara finds some information through her contacts concerning Jane Shepard's family. It turns out that Shepard has a sister and a niece that she never knew about on Earth. Shepard's father had managed to anger one of the many gangs on Earth and they kidnapped her and dropped her off at an orphanage under a false name as revenge. After finding this out, she went to introduce herself to her new family. After some awkward first introductions, she got to know her new family and was the first to find out about Buffy's "night job" and it didn't even faze her. How will her presence change things? Angel of Light (Starcraft): A rewrite/novelization of the Starcraft series. It will include several new events and the continued presence of a character or two who simply vanished. I will be pretty much gutting Heart of the Swarm and rewriting it almost from scratch. The absolute bullshit that is that story deserves to die forgotten. I don't think even an amateur writer like me could fuck it up any worse than it has been already. Not to mention that some of my planned revisions will require drastic changes to be made for them to work. I currently have no plans on when this will go up but don't expect it anytime soon. Most of this story is still just a bunch of ideas that I still need to put together properly. Fallout 4 - A Reporter's Story (Fallout): The name needs some work but the basic idea is the same. The idea here is for a sort of novelization of Fallout 4 but with a few changes, mostly revolving around Piper. My main idea is that Piper and Nat's parents are still alive and all four of them live in diamond city. This will eventually involve a male sole survivor (haven't decided his name yet) and Piper romance. I will be changing a bunch more things besides but the idea is to write out the story of Fallout 4 while changing some things to make it more of a story that feels like it could go a different way if things happened differently. The major change with this story is the only one I have worked out and that will be the fact that Piper and Nat's parents are the Lone Wanderer and Amata. I'll be tweaking some things in the lore to make this possible, and Piper will be about 23 at the start of this story. This one may not get written anytime soon as, just like Angel of Light, it is currently just a bunch of ideas rather than an actual story at the moment. I am aware that my description of a couple of the stories in this section are absolutely terrible but they were done on the fly and I struggled to come up with an actual description for a couple of these. I may change it later if I can think of a better description but it should give you a basic idea despite how awful my descriptions are. Queen of Angels (Harry Potter and Warhammer 40,000 crossover): A few years after the Death Eaters are defeated, Amelia Potter (Fem!Harry) has just turned 23 and she discovers a side effect of her new position as Master of Death - she is semi-immortal. While she can still be killed in battle, she will never age and is immune to all diseases. Fast forward about 30,000 years and Lady Potter (the only surviving member of the European magical community which collapsed in the 11th Millenium) has been leading a guerrilla war against Uilleam the Red for 500 years. One of her advisors brings the exploits of the Emperor to her attention and she decides to travel to mainland Europe and seek an audience with the Emperor to discover if he is someone she would be comfortable swearing loyalty to and to potentially seek his aid in her fight against Uilleam. Amelia is impressed with the Emperor and swears her and her supporters to his cause. After the Unification Wars on Earth end, Amelia along with Malcador (who is an old friend of hers) are named advisors to the Emperor. There will be more to this, obviously, but this is the general idea. I have not started on this yet but it is something that I plan to do sooner rather than later. There's also a second Warhammer/Harry Potter Crossover that I have kicking around but this one I have more concrete ideas for. Also, one other thing I want to mention that I couldn't find a decent place to put in the description: Amelia is a psyker and is (thanks to thousands of years of practice and the whole master of death thing) about as psychically powerful as the Emperor but her powers are more focused around healing people and saving lives than ripping them to shreds and obliterating their souls with a thought. She has a number of personal quirks but I don't want to give those away here. You will have to wait until I start writing the story to learn more about her. Boomer's Choice (Battlestar Galactica 2003): Boomer's attempt to kill Commander Adama mostly failed and he was only bedridden for a few days and still able to give orders instead of being comatose. He decided to respect the fact that Boomer had been a loyal crew member for years and ordered the crew of the Galactica not to harm her and chose to hear her side of the story. During this time, Boomer proved to be much stronger than the Cylons anticipated and managed to resist her Cylon programming and 'chose' to be human rather than Cylon. What if the crew of the Galactica found a way to block the Cylon signal and freed her. I recently started watching Battlestar Galactica and Boomer is one of my favorite characters so far. During that whole Boomer arc where you find out her 'secret', I honestly felt really bad for Boomer and I couldn't help but think that she really got screwed over by events. I mean, the poor girl has to find out that she's a Cylon when everyone around her is constantly talking about Cylons like they're the second coming of Satan. That alone would be enough to break most people. But then she has to experience her Cylon programming forcing her to shoot her Commanding Officer, a man she has a great deal of respect for (probably while she's feeling an immense level of agony from having to fight her programming since I can't imagine fighting Cylon programming is painless), and being brutally tortured by Tigh for the actions her programming forced her to take. Boomer has quite literally been through enough levels of hell to drive a normal person insane and I can't help but feel sorry for her. While I was watching through season 1 recently, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if she was able to fight her programming a bit more and Commander Adama was not quite as badly injured and was only bedridden for a few days instead of being put into a coma and if he decided to try and help a woman who had loyally served on the Galactica for years rather than having her tortured. This story is the result. Story Challenges These story challenges are stories that I would like to see at some point but do not feel confident in my ability to write, at this point. I am posting them here in case anyone wants to try their hand at writing this story themselves. XCom Story Challenge: A novelization of XCom from the perspective of the commander in the XCom 2 storyline (i.e. humanity loses the war). This has several requirements to fit the story I have in mind. It must start either at the beginning of the first war or right before XCom is defeated. The commander must be given a backstory and personality to establish who he is as a person. As that last statement implied, the commander must be male. There should be a romantic relationship between the commander and Lily Shen (no, you cannot have them break up). This relationship must be kept secret by them for a time (the reason for this doesn't matter). The commander must be a good person who relates to his staff and troops. He cannot be a callous bastard who just throws numbers at a problem and shrugs off casualties. Finally, the story, once the XCom 2 timeline starts up must last at least two years. Besides these, there are a few things I would like to see but I am not really pushing. At some point in the story, Lily should end up pregnant. The commander and Lily should get married or at least get engaged during the course of the story. It would be nice if Raymond Shen (Dr. Shen from Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within for those who don't know) survived and was present in XCom 2. Nagala's Gambit (Battlestar Galactica 2003): What if Admiral Nagala and the Battlestar Atlantia survived the Cylon attack and the message that Adama got about his death was an automated signal meant to fool the Cylons. Following his somehow faking his death (methods for him getting rid of the Cylon virus in his systems include a humanoid Cylon on board deciding to help him because of falling in love with Nagala or another crew member, having a member of his crew be really good with getting rid of viruses or just whatever else you can think of), Nagala meets up with the Galactica at the Ragnar shipyard and Adama hands command of the fleet over to him. If he manages to save any other ships, it should be a maximum of 20 smaller ships and 5 Battlestars, including the Atlantia. The fleet should still choose to run and should make a point of de-networking all networked ships in the fleet. From here on, it should pretty much be a novelization of BSG with changes based on Nagala being in charge. But please don't make him Cain 2.0. If you take my advice, Admiral Nagala is somewhere in between Adama and Cain in that he realizes that they'll have to make some unpleasant choices to survive but there are lines he straight up won't cross. And if his ship is still around because of humanoid Cylon help, he should find a way to stop their programming from forcing them to do things they don't want to (or get close enough to block it for a short time, at least) and make an effort to convince these models to jump ship and help the fleet rather than the Cylons. Note: When I find the time, I will be doing my own version of this story so keep an eye out for that. Battlestar Galactica 2003 and Warhammer 40k Crossover Story Challenge: Kobol is one of the many worlds settled by Humanity during the Golden Age of technology. After the planet was devastated by civil war, the surviving population abandoned the world, eventually finding their way to the twelve colonies. Due to history bullshit or some kind of loss of important data, the humans of the Twelve Colonies are unaware of the existence of life outside of their particular corner of the universe. During the Great Crusade, the Emperor's forces stumble across Kobol and find information pointing them towards the location of the Twelve Colonies. They arrive at Ragnar shortly after the president and civilian fleet make contact with the Galactica. From there, it's pretty much open-ended with a few exceptions. You may NOT, under any circumstances whatsoever, so much as CONTEMPLATE killing off Boomer or Athena and the Athena/Helo pairing is a must and has to be part of the story. And, if you can find a way to make Cain less of a bitch or kill her off, I would like that but it is not a requirement. And, if the Imperium has terraforming tech to restore worlds suffering from nuclear fallout then maybe they help restore the colonies to the pre-war state. If not, give the Colonials a new home, please. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross Crossover Story Challenge: The basic premise behind this is that it's the story of Chrono Cross but with Chrono, Marle and Lucca (and possibly the rest of the party from Chrono Trigger as well) as a major part of the story. This story should include a Chrono/Marle relationship with them already being married by this point (and probably having a child as well). Since Porre has occupied Guardia by this point in the timeline, a major part of this story should include Chrono and Marle's efforts to drive Porro out of their homeland (possibly also Marle's father and Chrono's mother if you choose to have them still be alive). Do not, I repeat, DO NOT even consider killing off Chrono, Marle, Lucca or any other main characters or their children during this story or allow Porre to defeat them. I consider this to be vital to any such story working. I will also probably write this story myself at some point if I can ever get my many ideas for this nailed down properly. That's everything that comes to mind for story challenges right now. These are a bit of a stretch for me, at the moment, which is why I'm not trying to write them myself. I don't think I'm good enough right now to do a good job with something like this so I'll just leave them as challenges rather than as future stories. I may write my own version of these at some point, though. I make no promises. If anyone decides to take me up on this and actually starts writing this story or one loosely based on one of these ideas, please send me a PM with the url so I can read it. Completed Stories Harry and Abby Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: Harry Potter has an adopted sister; Abby Potter, and they do everything together and are extremely close. One day they get a letter inviting them to attend Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Stories In Progress Alexis Potter and the Rise of the Marauders: What if Harry was a girl. Her name is Alexis Potter. Begins after book 5. Alexis arrives home to find that there have been some significant changes, and not for the better. Vernon has made these changes to punish Alexis for being a freak or at least this is how he sees things. Power Rangers Mass Effect: In 2171, the first team of Power Rangers was assembled by Zordon of Eltar to face the evil Rita Repulsa. However, due to a technical malfunction in the Command Center’s teleportation grid, six teenagers were teleported to the command center instead of five. In addition to Jason, Zach, Trini, Kimberly, and Billy, their long-time friend Jane Shepard was teleported alongside them. Mysteriously, the Red Power coin chose two people and the original team would have two Red Rangers. Things I HATE in Fanfiction (and stories in general) There are precious few things I can honestly say I detest in any fanfic I read but there are a few that just piss me off to no end and generally make me feel like a story has been ruined by their presence. 1. Unjustified hate/Character Bashing: It's one thing to dislike a character and not want to give them a prominent role in your story because of personal dislike. I'm perfectly all right with that even if I can get a little miffed at it. But if you hate a character and take every opportunity to bash the hell out of them for no good reason then I am unlikely to enjoy your story. There are exceptions though. Some characters like Vegeta and Sasuke are absolute bastards and I don't mind seeing them get some hate or get treated poorly since they have proven time again that they deserve it. But even that can earn my ire if it's just pure hate and bashing without an in-story justification for it. 2. Perpetual Grammatical Errors: I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, okay. It's a personal quirk of mine but constantly misspelling words, using incorrect grammar and things like that just irritate me. Now, if the story is decent there is still a chance I will read it but stories full of grammar and spelling problems are not something I enjoy. Anyone who's read one of these stories knows this but it's just no fun to have to fight through countless grammatical and spelling errors just to read a story. It doesn't matter how interesting and engaging the story is. I do not enjoy having to mentally translate the grammar to the correct form whenever I read something. Again, less of an issue than other things and I can overlook this a lot of the time but it's still rather annoying. 3. Killing off characters for the sole purpose of creating drama: While I have nothing against the death of a character in a story as a concept, I've seen it poorly executed time and again. People tend to kill off characters for an absurd variety of reasons. The one that gets on my nerves the most is when their sole reason for killing off a character is to create more drama for their story. This may surprise you but an excess of drama is not required for a good story. They can and will succeed without it. And I just find the idea of artificially killing off a character to create more drama (rather than because their death is important for the overall story) to be an incredibly stupid thing to do. It throws the motivations and reasoning of your various characters out the window for the sake of drama. I am not a fan. 4. Gary Stus/Mary Sues: Otherwise known as "perfect characters", these are another pet peeve of mine. I have a strong, unbending hate towards the idea of a character who is literally perfect in every way and has no flaws. A character without flaws is boring and I will have no desire to get invested in the story if one of your primary characters is just perfect and manages to solve every problem with a wave of their hand and has no conflicts of any kind that present any significant difficulties. I could go on about my hatred of these characters but we would be here all day if I did. Just know that the presence of "them" is one of the top things that will cause me to abandon a story (or at least start looking for a way to read the story while ignoring the character). That's what I think of immediately when it comes to things I hate (or at least strongly dislike) in fanfics. I will add more if and when I think them up but this will do for a starter. Please feel free to share what your personal pet peeves are for fanfiction you read. I would love to hear about them. |
