![]() Author has written 75 stories for Criminal Minds. Well, as a long time fan of fanfic, it's taken me this long to write a true fanfic piece. My wife and I have been writing on a story line inspired by Xena for 11 years now. Originally on the old XUSA boards, it's now on another friend's Xena site. My first story pretty much popped into my head fully formed and was just a matter of me writing it down. It was a lot of fun and it's inspired a few more ideas for me to give voice to. Hope y'all enjoy my follies. :o) Here are the answers to a few questions that have been posed to me since I started writing my AU version of JEmily and the BAU: Is there a method to my madness? Usually. A lot of times I'll do something to a character or have them say something that can come back into play in a later situation. Sometimes in that story, sometimes in a future story. As a for instance, In "Slay Ride" I had Emily get a minor injuries while Elle's partner is seriously wounded to help drive a bigger wedge between the two women. And in "Henry's First Christmas" I had Emily's run in with pyscho Alice Waddell to bruise her mind a bit in set up for the current story. (And also to mess with her hair colour before her parents big party!) And heck, I broke JJ's nose way back in "Dearly Beloved" just to give her a 'nose ache' around Henry's first Christmas. So, have patience with me as some of my plot points play out, sometimes in the current story and sometimes down the road. How do I come up with my stories? Pretty much have no idea. Usually just one scene hits me and I build a story around it. For instance, "Saviour" was inspired by the thought of Emily leaping off a cliff to save a victim. I then had to find the right place for it (thank you Google and Wikipedia!) and the right reason for it. Sometimes I see something on the news and think, "That's creepy. I could see my version of the BAU looking into something like that." And sometimes they just come to me fully formed. Those are the worst because I am impatient and hate how long it can take to write them out. And last question: How/Why do I write so fast? If I take too long I start to change things. When I change things I screw up plot points and continuity. I hate when stories get disjointed and if I can't see the end in my head I just note the idea and move on to the next. Otherwise, I'll put out a crappy story. And if I don't want to read it why would I subject someone else to it? :o) |
