![]() Author has written 1 story for Ice Age. Hello, I love writing (and reading!), so I thought I would try my hand at some fanfiction. :) Currently I'm a college student. I'm sorry I have not updated my story in quite a long while. I have been working on it though. Thank you to everyone who has reviewed and/or added my story to their favorite list/followed my story! I have a bad habit of not actually writing things out until I have too and just keeping stuff in my head. Also keep in mind that I am a busy person, but my writing is important to me and I can be kind of a perfectionist with it. My story is a fanfiction about Ice Age, the animated movie series. Ice Age has a special spot in my heart and really makes me feel like a kid again, which is good for everyone. The story is basically my version of the up-coming 4th movie. Other people have probably done it/are doing it...I don't care I am enjoying writing it, so I hope others enjoy it too. Please keep in mind it's rated T. I do write at an adult/older teen level and strive for depth and intensity (as needed) because I am trying to accurately portray what any given character might think or feel in their situation. Personalities, motives, and stimulus are complex and fascinating things. At the same time I don't plan on ever being explicit or anything, but expect some violence, adult themes, and the occasional coarse word. I do not own Ice Age or any of the characters therein. I have come up for names to some characters who I don't know the names of but they still belong to Blue Sky Studios/Fox. The characters in my story are simply my interpretations of the characters owned by Blue Sky Studios/Fox, and my story is my interpretation of the new movie, Continental Drift based on the information released as of January 2012. To whoever does read this, I hope you are having a wonderful day! Elisheva P.
I understand I have some of the names of the pirates wrong. I have corrected what I can. I'll probably rewrite it someday, but for now it will have to do! I hope this isn't too bothersome! "Sheldon" and "Tim" are a nod to Manny's comment on Rudy's name in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Random story facts (this will be added to periodically): Diego Diego's name literally does mean "he who supplants." Yes, this is going to be further developed, as is the rest of his background and family. So in answer to some questions, yes, there are things I haven't told you yet, but I will. :) The old, healed scars on Diego's face mentioned in chapter 5 came from the observation of faint, dark, vertical lines on his face in the first movie, that are absent in subsequent films. So I have them being scars that fade by the beginning of the second film. A route I considered taking with this was just having them be actual stripes that faded with age, but the scars are going to add more to his story. Shira Her name is Hebrew for poetry, song, melody, or tune. The constellation from chapter 1 is Cassiopeia, which looks like a big W in the northern sky viewed in the northern hemisphere. Given that Jennifer Lopez is the voice of Shira, her accent will be similar to Soto's. On this base I decided to make them siblings. Soar and Martah His name is old French for chestnut color, which happens to fit his coat perfectly. Martah is the female version of Martin, which means warrior. Her battle isn't physical, but it is going to be at the heart of this story. Sensus Sensus (Sen for short) is the son of Soar and Martah, Diego's half-brother. His name is Latin for "fuller sense." Because Soar wavered in his fidelity to Martah through the weakness of sight/lust, other sabers see it as justice that his only legitimate son, Sensus, is blind. However, because of his blindness Sen's other senses are shaper, making him a lethal hunter who relies more on instinct, smell, and hearing than sight to catch prey. Even with his talents his "defect" prevents him from ever fully participating in a pack or being a potential mate. Manfred Manny's name means "man of peace." In Chapter 6, Peaches is unsettled by an oak tree (an ancient symbol for wisdom), cut down by the storm. It symbolizes her father's wisdom that she had begun to cut off from her life. The fact that this tree, and not any of the other, weaker species of trees on the hilltop succumbed to the storm also symbolizes the affect of the storm on the local animals, taking the strongest of them (Manny) during the quake while leaving the rest (of course excepting Diego, Sid, and Granny...but they don't really play into the point the symbolism was trying to make). Since the oak embodies courage, nobility, and loyalty, among other fitting traits, I thought it most appropriate for Manny. Sid Sid's name does mean "wide meadow." Gutt He does have a plan. |
