![]() Author has written 15 stories for Naruto, Avatar: Last Airbender, How to Train Your Dragon, Attack on Titan/進撃の巨人, Bleach, Mass Effect, Fate/stay night, Young Justice, and Legend of Korra. I'm a guy from the US. I like to think that I add to the small portion of good work on this site on the rare occasion I get around to writing fan fiction. When I read, it's most often AU's and comedic stuff. Check out my writing, if you feel like it and have a nice day/night/whatever, Scavenger Main Story: Regressed: A Naruto fanfiction inspired by mellra's fanfic "Kid Kyubi", but dealing with a different Kurama, and an altered universe. Secondary Priorities: Soulforged: A plot bunny that takes the basic outline of the Bleach Universe and refills it with characters and plots from Naruto and Shingeki no Kyojin. Expansive Horizons: A multi-chapter continuation of Trust, Hopes, and the Dashing of Both, because the SNK universe is just that fun to play in. Idealized: A short multi-chapter story about an unintentional time-traveler meeting his father: Eren. On Hold: (If I get back to these stories, they'll be getting some editing, if not complete rewrites) The Inheritors: A next generation Naruto fic with a few twists, hopefully not too cliched. How to Train a Fiery Death Machine: The story of Hiccup and Toothless without the restrictions that come with the target age. Conflux: Witches, Ninjas and Kryptonians: A crossover story which so far involves Young Justice, Naruto, Smallville and Teen Titans. Spirits: Bender's Chronicles: A reimagining of the Avatar universe in a more modern world with an emphasis on spirits and the origins of bending. Completed: Sunset: A one-shot detailing how I think Naruto's worldview might be affected by the events of the war, updated as of the manga's end. The Jacket: A companion oneshot to Regressed explaining why Naruto's clothes are different in that universe and going into a bit of Sarutobi's thought processes. Trust, Hopes, and the Dashing of Both: A oneshot detailing the thoughts of Annie and the Main Trio before, during and in the aftermath of the Stohess incident. Deviates from canon for the sake of my whims. Now has a continuation: Expansive Horizons. Judgement: A One-Shot exploring the immediate aftermath of Ichigo not spontaneously resurrecting for Orihime and Ulquiorra. In Development: Something to Jenga: A flipping of the Bleach universe where several members of the Espada fill the roles of the main characters, possibly consigned to one-shot status if I can ever finish the bit I have planned. Stevefall: An attempt at a novelization of Minecraft, begun with extreme trepidation. If I ever manage to make it a priority, it's gonna be long. Young Justice Conflux: A radically different version of Conflux set after the end of season two. When it gets posted, I'll probably be moving the original to some sort of collection of scrapped stories. My Philosophy of Writing: Typos: Always, always, always check your writing for errors before you do anything semi-serious with it. It doesn't need to be perfect, just a step above readable. Description: You want to strike a balance when describing anything from a scene to an object. Don't be so general you give the reader nothing to work with, but don't go into every small detail unless absolutely necessary, those are for the audience to imagine for themselves. More tips as I think of them. Shipping Policies: I'd like to believe that I don't care about shipping, but... Well, that would be a near-complete lie. Despite my best efforts, it ensnares me just as surely as your average teenage fangirl, so I figure I'll just put my preferences out there to avoid people stepping on toes. Ships I Support: Naruto: Naruhina, Shikatema Camp Half Blood: Percabeth, Hazel/Frank Harry Potter: Canon Pairings (No matter what the author says) Attack on Titan: Canon Pairings (So basically Yumikuri)My OTP's: Maiko from ATLA (Sappy dialogue and all) and Ereannie from AOT because I will go down with the ship. The one ship I can't stand: Zutara from ATLA (Don't bring it up unless you're behind on your rant quota) Assume I'm ambivalent toward all others, though I prefer them to be within the realm of legitimate possibility. The Opinions Section: This is where I give my inconsequential thoughts on various parts of this site and occasionally other things: Authors, stories, etc. The "Naruto is Secretly Ridiculously Strong/Smart/Talented" Trope: I tend to hate these stories with a passion. The only one I've liked so far is Kenchi618's "The Sealed Kunai" and it took extreme extenuating circumstances and a very good writer to keep Naruto multi-dimensional and balanced. It just seems like everyone who writes this wants to turn Naruto into a Gary Stu who beats the crap out of Sasuke. This dislike extends somewhat to any story where Naruto has some huge secret that he somehow manages to mask completely. Naruto is not the kind of character to keep big personal secrets if he has a choice, he's direct and tends not to overthink things. It just feels wrong. Almost Everything in the Percy Jackson Section: About three quarters of the stories written for PJO seem to be harrowing, original stories of Percy being betrayed for no conceivable reason (usually by Annabeth, but "everyone" is another popular choice) and going on a blood-soaked quest of Gary-Stu vengeance. I get the sensationalistic angle, but it gets old after the first fifty or sixty near-identical stories. Admittedly, there's a fair amount of other story types, but the prevalence of this archetype makes no sense to me. Twilight: I hate this series for many reasons, including the obvious ones that everyone has already harped on a million times. However, the single worst offense of it is that the concept is beyond cool and ends up going nowhere. Superman vampires trying to kill each other over the morality of eating human beings is an awesome premise for a series, and if you want to throw romance in as a way to move the plot, then fine, but when you take that awesome world and shove it aside for the sake of a bland, badly written and very creepy relationship, you've just made Attack of the Clones minus the action and preexisting fan loyalty. Forced Romantic Plotlines: I read a lot of fanfiction. Because of the quality ratio on this site, this means that by necessity I read a lot of bad fanfiction. Some of the worst offenders to this are the stories that go from a nonexistent relationship to full blown sex-all-the-time and cheesy dialogue in usually under a thousand words. This train of events is idiotic because it 1: disregards the personalities of the characters involved most of the time and 2: treats the characters like just that: characters. If you want to convey an attraction between two people, their chemistry should do it for you. Randomly having one character realize they love another one and immediately confess it doesn't show any sort of imagination, or insight into how these people would act. In the end, it's a boring photocopy of something that was overdone before computers were even a glimmer in someone's imagination... So basically, don't do it. Unnecessary Lemons: A perfectly good story can be so easily ruined because for some reason, in the middle of everything else, we take a break from the story and characters to have two people fuck. Take Apprenticeship by Moon's-Wing for example. The solid majority of it is a very good AU of Attack on Titan set during the Salem Witch Trials, showcasing great character development, touching interactions, and a not at all over the top depiction of blind prejudice, which any reader of Naruto fanfiction will know is a distinct rarity. Levi and Erwin's relationship is one of the best parts of the story, and even the parts that showcase how sexually active they are can be funny, touching, and well-integrated, but for some reason, every few sections, the author decides that they need to have a lemon that's basically unrelated to anything but itself. In the end it just ends up detracting from all the great things going on in the story. I don't have a problem with lemons as a part of a story, I just much prefer they have a purpose, or happen offscreen. Otherwise, they're just gratuitous. The Obligatory Quotes Section: Middle Earth: Gandalf the Grey: "Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends." Gandalf the Grey: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." Bilbo Baggins: "I think I'm... quite ready for another adventure!" Gimli, Son of Gloin: "Certainty of death, small chance of success... What are we waiting for?" Peregrin Took: "I don't want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of one I can't escape is even worse." Gandalf the Grey: "I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay... small acts of kindness and love." Naruto Nara Shikamaru: "There's no advantage to hurrying through life." Yamanaka Ino: "Oh, I'm sorry. Her head's so empty that I mistook her for a vase and put flowers in her." Uchiha Itachi: "Change is impossible in this fog of ignorance. How can we evolve when regulation is the only thing we've ever known?" "Emperor Lee sat back on the park bench in the Abyss, looking out over the fiery lake down below where sinners writhed in eternal torment and tossed bread to the hell-ducks. The ducks paused pecking at the damned for a moment to fight over the crusts." |
