Three years after the events of DoTD Cynder returns to the dragon city, and to Spyro. But all is not well in the dragon world. A year has passed since the Dragon Temple was ravaged by the Mad Feran Prince and a well deserved peace has settled upon the realm. But the news of the brief war with the Ferans sparks the interest of an ancient Order whose return marks catastrophe. Conflict brews anew and the new generation of dragons must find their place in the world before it swallows them entirely.

Spyro and Cynder leave the world's core after defeating Malefor, and find an unknown shadow dragon along the way out. Only they don't know that the past of this shadow dragon comes to haunt them all.

Shadows lengthen and Cynder's problems multiply. She's whisked away from frail peace again all too soon as the Eternal Night looms on the horizon. It's been a few years after the war with Malefore came to a close, and as the dragons slowly begin to rebuilt both their city and their race, Terrador, Volteer and Cyril can't help but feel the burden of the war. Two species of dragon were wiped from existence and history, at least that's what the Guardians thought, until a desperate Dragoness dies trying to protect her only egg.

Pouring all his power into his final attempt to save the world, Spyro did not realize just how big of an impact this will have when he also uses his dark energy. Now ancient evils are reawakened to wreak havoc upon the Dragon Realms.

Following the disastrous defeat at Draxis, Spyro, Cynder and the remaining villagers retreat back to Warfang. Battle lines will be drawn, relationships will be tested and identities will be shattered as the Dragon City faces a war it knows nothing about. Note: I DID NOT WRITE THE FIRST 26 CHAPTERS. They were written by a friend who no longer exists on this site. That said, it has been adjusted with little bits and bobs of my own, therefore it is not the original. Immediately after the war for the realms, Malefor has been defeated. We find Spyro left to the temple with his secret love, Cynder, and the surviving Dragon population.
