Hello! Welcome to my new account. I didn't want my new and/or revamped stuff beside my old, unbeta'd, childish (who am I kidding, I'm always childish :p) stuff so I created this. However, I didn't want to delete the stuff off of my old account because lots of people enjoyed them and deleting 50 stories would have felt like such a mass genocide...it didn't feel right for me. This account will be for my new stuff and my revamped stuff if I ever get around to it. I'll be more active on my deviantart account under the same name but I realized that a lot of fics, especially the interview fics, are better done on this account than on DA. Even so, I'll post drawings and such of what goes on in the fics here, on DA. Well then, I look forward to some nice reviews and making some friends online again. -Saph InterviewFic Rules: It pains me to do this, but after reviewing my old interviewfics I began to think that there are some questions I thought were inappropriate. Not because they contained R-rated material and profanity, but because they ruined the experience. Therefore, I have deemed it necessary to put up a list of “rules” that I wish will be followed to better the interviewfic. Some are personal peeves, others are addressed at stuff that kills the mood. 1) Questions pertaining to things the character would have no knowledge of. -e.g. “If you met [name of character from another fandom] what would you do?” I like to write these fics in character, and it kills the mood whenever I see and try to answer a question such as this. When you think about it, the character would have no knowledge of what said fandom is. Please refrain from this. However, if you were to phrase it differently, “If you met a person that [description of the exact thing the name of character from another fandom you’d want guest to respond to] how would you react?” A very slight and annoying difference, but much better for mood. For example: If, let’s say I was interviewing L from Deathnote. We’ve seen the meme “L didn’t die, he just went to Bleach as Ulquiorra”. If someone were to ask, “L, is it true you are Ulquiorra” or something along those lines, I can only answer (in character) “who is that?” or something along those lines, and that kills the mood. If you were to ask, “L, how would you react if you saw a person that was exactly like you?” or even pretended to attach a photo of Ulquiorra for comparison. Again, annoying, I know, but I’d rather cover the bases and make it look professional and do whatever I can to preserve the mood. I’d rather not edit questions because I think people are happier if I copy and paste their question. It makes them feel like they had a part in the making of the fic, which they do. 2) Excessive profanities and spelling/grammar issues. -I am very sorry. I know that some people cannot help it, but this is a HUGE peeve of mine. Since I prefer to copy and paste the list of questions I get, I’d rather not have to have things I do not stand for on them. Know that if you submit a question (or even a comment/compliment you want to be put up there, differentiate) know that it is going to be going into the finished product as-is. I strive to create a professional, finished product. I edit my part of the chapter until my eyes are screaming with fatigue. If you could take just 30 seconds to edit your responses or type them out with the intention that this will be a finished product, then it will be better for everyone in the end. That being said, I know that some people don’t know how to spell some words, or are prone to typos, or they make mistakes because English isn’t their original language. I understand that and those kinds of mistakes are fine, heck, I make them on a daily basis. However, for people who have the power to write properly, I ask that you do so. I really hate abbreviations and such like “Plz” and “ppl”, I believe that those things belong in texting and instant-message chat or whatnot and would rather they stay there. For a finished product that people read, write it knowing that some people do not know what those abbreviations mean (I’m not very knowledgeable in that field). Please try to write coherently so that everyone can know what you are saying. Be reminded that I am human and I am not you nor am I psychic. If you are not clear in what you are asking, then you will not get a proper answer. As for grammar, again, I know that some people can’t help it. I simply ask that for those that can avoid it that they do so. Of course, something like typing out an accent is allowed. I love that and try to do it quite a bit. Grammar is a peeve of mine and it REALLY kills the mood for me whenever I see it. Just keep in mind that I will not edit the questions in any way, so you have to do your part to edit what you say. 3) Spoilers. -the dreaded topic of spoilers. I know that we’re walking a fine line. I have an idea on how to avoid it. Of course, there are questions that can’t be asked without spoilers but I’d rather not kill anyone’s enjoyment if they would rather not have spoilers, so, if you are going to ask something that might spoil canon, try to phrase it in a way that it is not a spoiler. E.g. “How did you feel when [name] did [action]?” Questions like this might be a spoiler and if you are unsure, assume it is. How I would phrase it would be, “If [name] did this, how would you feel/react?” It’s stupid, I know, but again it will make things much more enjoyable. That one word, ‘if’ is very magical. 4) Please send in questions ONLY for the character that is coming in at that time. -If the character you want to ask questions has not been announced then please reserve your questions for a time when I announce he/she is coming. This was a major problem I had last time I started interviewfics because people kept on sending me questions for characters I hadn't gotten around to or even planned for. Their time will come (hopefully) and I'd rather not have to keep track and save and find all of these questions. If you send them in because you feel like you will forget, please don't forget that I am human too and my memory and organization probably suck worse than yours does. From now on, if I get questions in advance for a character I have no plan for, then your questions will not make it onto the interview for said person if and when I get to them. Sorry, this was a major peeve of mine back then. I am very sorry I felt the need to do this. Those are the big 3 so far. If more stuff comes up, I'll add it. Please know that if you choose to ask questions and violate one of these rules, I will ask you to fix it up. I'd rather not post stuff that goes against these rules and it feels wrong of me to edit someone else's words. If it's bad enough then I reserve the right to actually exempt it from the chapter. I prefer not to ignore people, but if I ask and you reply with a bad attitude then you're just asking to be ignored. I try to treat people with respect and I'd expect the same. |
