![]() Author has written 4 stories for That '70s Show. Penname: alyak0807 Real name: Kayla--yes, my penname is my real name backwards. Currently I am: working on chapter 43 of "Hearts Desire" as well as a brand new fic. July Announcements 7-24-14: I'm still here! :) And I'm *still* working on the next chapter of my story. lol Thanks to everyone for their patience. About Me: I’ve mentioned before that I haven’t written on this site in years. So I believe I’ve gotten a bit rusty with my writing (and it wasn't that great to begin with), but I’m trying my best to recover. English was always one of my favorite subjects; I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing. However, I never really excelled at grammar and spelling. I try to proofread my work as thoroughly as possible, but I know I still make some errors. So please forgive them, but feel free to PM if there’s ever anything major that needs fixing right away. How often I update really just depends on busy I am. I know it’s a lame excuse. But, I’m a business owner and I work a “day job” as well, as a human resources manager. Have you seen the show, ‘The Office’? You know that guy, Toby? That’s basically what I do, except I oversee everything for a big company. Between working 8 hrs at that job (if I don’t have to work overtime), spending a few hours checking in on my store, and spending some alone time with my hubby (he becomes a big baby if he feels like I’m neglecting him) I barely have time sleep. :( Usually when I’m awake at 1am and there’s nothing on TV except the shopping network, I’ll start writing a few paragraphs for a chapter. But know this, I WILL NEVER ABANDON A STORY! Like I just said, I’m a workaholic, so I don’t always have the time to update as quickly as I would like to, but I would never just forget about it. I always, always finish what I started. I don’t believe in putting so much time and effort into a something, only to quit right in the middle of all the progress. If I did, believe me, I would’ve never completed college. :) So trust that as long as I’m still alive and breathing, I will finish my fic. But if you're ever feeling concerned, or would just like an idea of when I'm going to update, feel free to PM me and ask. I don't mind. I'm more likely to respond and find the time to work on a chapter if I receive a polite private message, letting me know that you're waiting patiently. Rude reviews don't make me rush to complete a chapter. Just like any other author I love reviews, they let me know people are reading. And I'm fine with constructive criticism, if it's negative I don't really like it... but as long as it's done respectfully, I can accept it. Personally, I believe that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. But suppose that with my line of work I have to be that way. I just think that a lot of people of this site work very hard to develop and write out their stories. And just because you might not particularly understand or care for the plot, it doesn't mean that you have to be harsh with your review. Just don't leave one at all. But, we all have freedom of speech and are entitled to our own opinions. But I just don't give negative criticism. I’m absolutely terrible at summaries! Sometimes I’ll play around with one until I’m happy. So if you ever look at one of my fics and the summary is different, that’s why. I like dramatic and smutty situations. There are very few times you’ll find me writing ‘fluff’, I don’t really care too much for it. I like angst and conflict with some occasional steamy, make-up sex. Repeating myself, but I love me some smut. ONLY if it's done tastefully. Sexy, but not too overly explicit. I, myself have never personally thought that I was great at writing smut, but everyone else seems to think otherwise. So as long as you like it, I’ll keep writing it. Sometimes I can get a little crazy with the angst. I know this, I'm aware of it. But I always warn you ahead of time. And although my stories aren’t ever necessarily about “puppies n’ rainbows”, (that’s what I informally refer to as fluff) you can always expect that I will end the fic on a happy note. I would never make anyone sit through an entire story just for the characters not to have their “happy endings”. What a waste of time that would be, right? I can be a bit “unpredictable” at times, my stories can be erratic. Some of my chapters will be dark and full of angst, while some are lighthearted with a bit of humor and others are sexy and romantic. But I think the overall plot stays consistent. FF.net was one of my absolute favorite sites when I first discovered and was obsessed with fanfiction. When I was in college I used to spend hours upon hours reading some of the most amazing fics on this website. I just wish I could remember what most of them are called so I could add them to my favorites... Hmmm... Favorite TV Shows I watch or have seen at least one episode of just about everything. I'm not kidding. The TV is always running in the background at my house. But, I like That '70s Show (obviously), Grey's Anatomy (or at least I did before Mark and Lexie died), Weeds, kinda been getting into Arrested Development, New Girl, Gossip Girl, The Office... I know there's tons more and if I think of them, I'll add. In Progress/Completed Stories So Far *Hearts Desire: Again, I'm not awesome at summaries and I've changed the summary for this fic at least six times since I've started it. I'm just trying to find the best way to describe it. But basically all you need to know about this story is that it has a lot of angst. And I can not stress that enough. So if your looking for a story that's going to make you laugh and smile...this isn't the right choice for you.--The first few chapters of this fic aren't too great. So pay no mind to the first 3-4 chapters as I was still trying to gain back the semi-decent writing skills I had when I was first on this site. *4th of July: The Missing Scene: A smutty one-shot "extension" of one of the chapters in Hearts Desire. *Love's Not Enough: The Missing Scene:Again, a smutty one-shot "extension" of one of the chapters in Hearts Desire. *A Day In The Park: A fluffy one-shot. Again, fluff isn't my thing, but I gave it a try. I'm so happy that people are still reading & reviewing my stories! Thank you all! As I've said, I really want to get "Hearts Desire" finished. I've been slow on the updates because I'm trying to figure out how to end it. I would really like to have it completed in no more than 3-5 chapters. I'm currently working on chapter 40 and will hopefully have it posted very soon.--Also, I'm probably going to be doing a bit of "sprucing up" or making changes to a few of my stories. It won't be anything big, I won't take out sentences and put new ones in or anything like that. The plot and the story itself will still be the same, but I'm just going to change some things that have bugged me, spelling errors, I'll fix up my disclaimer a bit, get rid of any past authors notes, ect. So if you are rereading any old stories or chapters and they look a little different, that's why. |
