Hi :)

It's amazing how many times a person can google something and get different results depending on the day of the week (or in my opinion- the mood of the internet Gods). Fan Fiction is what I've been looking for!

I am a hospital worker by day (mid-shift, actually) and bookworm by night. I've always kept stacks of books to read all around me and I moved from different genres from time to time. As a psychology major, I definitely went through my share of self-help but I've always delighted myself in the storytelling process of Fiction. I haven't really gotten into Fantasy novels, but I'm willing to say that I could appreciate almost anything with a great plot (I will admit I have enjoyed an occassional cheesy novel too!).

I have spent the last three years writing my own novel, a Sci-fi/Horror/Thriller that I am wanting to bring to the public's eye sometime this year. It started off as a way to pass the time but as many writers can probably understand, the details took over and I felt a responsibility to the characters to try and describe them and the story to the best of my ability. Once that was done I felt even more eager to write the sequel and it has been a wonderful though trying experience.

I have had friends read my manuscript and they love it, like really, LOVE it but then again they are supposed to- what are friends for? I have come to the point now where I need to safely distribute this 'baby' of mine and see what others think as readers of many other stories. I have also wanted to get into beta reading myself because though I am not a technical writer, I care about storylines and character portrayal. I'm capable of asking questions about a character or plot in order to make sure as a reader and potential buyer of any book, that the auther is expressing all that he or she wants me to know about the story. My experience comes from helping ESL students write essay papers and although they may not be completely fluent in English writing and language- writers have the same issues when trying to get their words from inside their minds to paper or the laptop screen.
