![]() Author has written 9 stories for StarTrek: The Original Series, and Star Trek: 2009. I am cyclical, singlemindedly devoted, and monomaniacal in many ways and have been since I was a small child. I approach all of my interests with the same singular focus of vision of magnifying glasses as used by small children who've just discovered the power of the sun. This is why I have thousands of cookbooks, have read the entirety of Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, nearly memorized Robert Silverberg's 'Conquerors From the Darkness,' adore Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice.' and can and will quote Shakespeare, Chaucer in the original middle English, and DC comics (Green Lantern's little soliloquy and the Sandman's poem in particular) in the same breath and with no provocation at all. Currently, I am fascinated with Star Trek. The new movie really hit the right receptors in my soul, then I found the Spock_Uhura community on LiveJournal and that was all it took. I watched TOS back in 1960s, and my father said that when I watched Star Trek reruns, there was an echo in the room -- the actors speaking their lines. I adore the Spock character. He is the misfit, the outsider, the really smart guy that shows up the pretty boys and girls by being smarter, faster, better looking, and having those really cool pointed ears. Like other little geeky girls, I wanted to either grow-up and be like Spock or marry him. I came closer to the former, but I did have to buy my pointed ears. It used to be the Harry Potter series, well, Snape, really. Many of us Spock fans also love that magical man in black, but when I finally read the last page of the last book, I was done. Whilst my FF account is of very recent vintage, I have been reading here for a good 7- 8 years. --o-00|o0o|00-o-- My writing -- how, but not why, I write: I don't expect to post anything that isn't complete. I don't write beginning to end. I seem to write beginning AND ends, then the middles. It would be awkward if I posted chapter one and chapter 37 first, then chapter 17, chapter six, four re-writes of chapter 24 and you see. I also write slowly, because I only write when I am alone and those times are few and far between. If you are available for betaing, I am interested. I take feedback well and want to improve my writing skills. --o-00|o0o|00-o-- Why do I write? I have to write. It's a compulsion. --o-00|o0o|00-o-- It appears I now have Story Arcs, or at least AUs. So we have first, a tale of love across time and space in the form of a fic, and its associated sub-fics, that was given its title by my word processor. Due to popular demand, I am trying to write a sequel, though do watch for more bits and pieces from that AU as I work things out in my head. I would read them in the order in which I wrote them as listed below, but 2 and 3 are pretty much interchangeable so far as the story arc is concerned. The story moves from TOS to Reboot. I have two more parts in progress -- a sequel to the main story and another interlude concerning the black stuff on the kitchen floor. Update: Second Interlude is about three-quarters of the way done. 1. Busman's Holiday TOS Chapel set in the Reboot universe. 2. Busman's Holiday Interlude 1 TOS Chapel in the Reboot universe. An extreme version of talking to yourself. 3. Busman's Holiday Prelude Spock/Chapel in the TOS Universe. Adults only, please. 4. Better Left Unsaid: A Busman's Holiday Interlude Spock, Kirk, and McCoy in the TOS Universe I suppose you could include this as a pre-Prelude. It's always nice to connect things, no matter how marginally. I would probably read it first, actually. 0. Can't Buy You Back the Love That You Had Then My second, an idea of which I am uncommonly fond, relates some of the trials and tribulations of becoming family, particularly when you are not fond of the idea. This is set in a Reboot AU. It features Sarek of Vulcan and Winona Kirk finding the one certain way to make their children as freaked out as possible. 1. I Hate Those Unexpected Phone Calls, Don't You? 2 Shopping for Fun, Profit and Galactic Peace Which leaves one, well two as of 9/1/2011, stand-alones: 1. A Funny Thing Happened on My Way to Sickbay There are the glimmers of a sequel for this one happening. 2. Pain Perdu and Wax Myrtles If you have any clever ideas for titles, please let me know. I would be delighted to retitle my stories. MSWord is starting to ask for author's credit, along with public acknowledgment of it as my beta. --isobel |
