About Me

(Just in case you stumbled upon my profile and have no clue as to who I am)

I'm graduating from college in about three months with a History degree. The panic has not yet set in. I write mostly original fiction that I hope to one day publish, but I cut my teeth on fanfic and I still dabble in it - as this account suggests. I am a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy, and most of my writing features a liberal dose of humor. Shadows Fall seems like the lone exception for the time being, but as the poor Jedi are being hunted down I guess they've got a reason to not be particularly jovial.

I try not to take myself too seriously; I AM trying to write an entertaining fanfic, but the keyword there is the one that starts with 'e'. If people keep coming back to read it and are enjoying it as a story, then I'm satisfied. I'm not going for great literature here.

Um... I also have the attention span of a gnat.

The Fics

The Silence of the Deep - Pirates of the Caribbean fandom. I realize that after the new movie comes out this will officially be way AU, but hey, I live for AU. This is the longest-running fic I have up on the site; it probably started in... '03? Anyway, it's evolved somewhat and I know there are parts I'm dying to edit/re-write (in measured doses - not the entire thing) to keep up with the way the SL has changed over the years that I've worked on it. It features the entire main cast working with one another (though not entirely willingly) to stop a very ambitious pirate from taking over the Caribbean.

It still is book one of a projected three, though I'm going to have to retool the second and third books heavily. I do want to shout-out to my wonderful Silence readers, who very faithfully stuck by my side even after the story went a year without an update. My readers are teh awesomest. The Silence website is undergoing some revamping so... stay tuned.

Shadows Fall - Star Wars fandom. Now, SW is my original weakness; I have old stories from second grade about the OT characters. So this is sort of like coming home for me. ;) It is set during Revenge of the Sith, with one minor change: Order 66, and Vader's hunting of the Jedi, stretches into a couple of months rather than just the five minutes we were shown. It features a host of background characters from the movies and the video games,among them Joclad Danva (best known as The Man Who Died Twice in Attack of the Clones... well, clearly he lived for my purposes) and Arden Lyn (who was introduced as a mysterious but powerful assassin in Masters of Teräs Käsi).

It is also the first of three (I know, you're shaking your heads) but in my defense, SF is a lot shorter than SD and I've done some pretty extensive outlining on this particular trilogy. So, we'll see. Again, website is forthcoming.

The Militia's Women - The Patriot fandom. I don't know if anyone on this site remembers it. Now that was my magnum opus of fanfiction. It will get finished. One day. Lots and LOTS of background characters (as seems to be my habit) and some OCs, too.

Other Stuff

I welcome all kinds of critique as long as it doesn't degenerate into "You suck!" If you spot errors of any sort - be they grammatical or continuity - please let me know. Our hosting website has a nasty habit of eating dashes and creating weird formatting errors, so I'm keeping a sharp eye out for that.
