Hello random people who are reading my profile!

I'm here to read only; I have neither the time nor the inclination to write. I'm Canadian, as you can see, and a huge hockey fan (Montreal Canadiens FTW!), and I'm in my early 30's, although still a kid at heart. I finally signed up because I got tired of seeing "author does not accept anonymous reviews" on the stories I most wanted to review!
I read fanfiction when I'm not completely happy with how things turned out in canon - usually a couple I want to see get together. I have minimal interest in reading stories about canon couples.

The following are the fandoms I'm interested in, divided into 3 categories:
1 - Ones I've loved since forever
Phantom of the Opera: When I was in grade 9, a classmate went to see Phantom in Toronto with her family during March Break and came back raving about it - she even brought in the cast recordings she had bought and we listened to them in class. I was hooked on the music first, then that summer I borrowed the book from the library and fell in love with it too. Many years later, I finally got to see the travelling show in Toronto and then the real thing in New York. (Oh, and prior to that I saw the movie in the theatre 7 times.)
Pairings: Erik/Christine or Erik/well-written OC. Although I don't love Raoul, I don't hate him either; however, Raoul/Christine are canon so I'm not interested in reading about them anyway.

Hunchback of Notre Dame: When I was in grade 10, the Disney movie came out. However, before I went to see it, my dad dug out an old comic book version of the story from about 1940 that he had stashed away, so I could get an idea what the story was about. I'm glad he did, because that coloured my perception of Frollo, even while watching the movie (Disney Frollo is pretty evil, after all!) and after seeing the movie I couldn't wait to read the book. I much prefer the book, because Disney kind of ruined the story - oversimplifying it and making everything so black and white - but the Disney movie still holds a soft spot in my heart because it introduced me to the story, and the music and artwork are awesome!
I had almost forgotten about HoND for a while, but then recently I discovered Daniel Lavoie and the musical Notre-Dame-de-Paris that was produced around 1999, and I fell in love all over again - both with the story/Frollo and with Daniel Lavoie himself, lol! You can check it out on YouTube - it's in French, but the emotion he puts into it is amazing, even if you don't understand French. (There is an English version, but the translation of the lyrics is horrible.)
Pairings: Frollo/Esmeralda, if it's well-written (unfortunately I don't find there are too many of those on here); otherwise, I like short, angsty, Frollo one-shots.

2 - Ones I'm into right now

EDITED MAY 23/12 - Avengers: Obsessed with Loki right now! Loki angst, Loki humour, Loki/Black Widow, Loki/OC... yeah, anything Loki... those eyes... sexiest villain ever :P

EDITED JAN. 16/12 - Iron Man: I saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in the theatre a couple of weekends ago and have been obsessed with Robert Downey Jr. ever since! I'm not sure why it took me this long, since I thought he was hot after seeing the first Sherlock Holmes, but anyway, I googled him and found out he was also Iron Man so I watched both movies back to back... and I'm in love lol! I love Tony/Pepper - I suppose they're canon but since they only got together at the end of the second movie (and barely!) I can't get enough of them.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Well, I've been into POTC fanfiction since at least the 2nd movie, so it's been awhile, but I find all the characters so fascinating I keep coming back to it. I could expound on my ideas of the motivations of the characters and the relationships between them for hours, but I won't here... :P Let's just say I love them all. I was happy with the pairing of Will/Elizabeth at the end of the first movie, but from the start of the second one on they seemed to me to grow further and further apart to the point where their inevitable marriage (it's Disney after all) seemed ridiculous, so I turned to fanfiction.
Pairings: Elizabeth/Jack - this is what I was first interested in reading (especially as I love Johnny Depp!) but I've read so many stories I'm kind of bored with them now. My opinion on this pairing is that it would never actually work long-term - their personalities are too much alike and they'd probably end up killing each other - but they're so hot together and those stories are fun to read.
Elizabeth/Norrington - after watching the trilogy I think they were meant to be together. If only Norrington would have not been killed and gone with Elizabeth, I think they would have ended up together - and maybe the writers even saw that, and that's why they killed Norrington off! Norrington is a genuinely good guy and he always gets the short end of the stick - I just feel so bad for him. I like reading Norrington angst, too.
Elizabeth/Barbossa - ok, so maybe that one is a bit weird, but Geoffrey Rush is hot, too, and actually, I'll read pretty much any pairing for POTC as long as it's well-written!
Blackbeard/anybody - I'm surprised that there's not more Blackbeard fanfiction! I had no idea who Ian McShane was before watching Pirates 4, but from the moment he appeared on screen he completely captivated me - even when Johnny Depp was on screen! I absolutely love his eyes and the eyeliner looks amazing on him... ok, I'll stop drooling now :D (I do have a thing for older men, in case you hadn't noticed...) Please people, write more Blackbeard fanfiction!

Labyrinth: This past summer I randomly read an article on the internet titled something like, 25 Creepiest Kids Movies Of All Time, and one of them was Labyrinth... the (male) author went on and on about how traumatized he was by Bowie's bulge (well, I don't think he actually used the word "traumatized", but that was the implication) and I was curious! I knew who David Bowie was, of course, but I had never listened to his music and didn't get why some women found him hot. So I looked up some clips on YouTube and found women my age commenting that they had seen the movie when they were 6 or 7 and had been in love with Bowie ever since, and I figured he must be some hot to have that effect even on 6-year-olds! My husband found me a second-hand copy (I so love that he's not jealous!) and I quickly discovered what all the fuss was about... ;)
Pairing: Jareth/Sarah, of course! Now the logical part of my brain realizes that the most likely explanation of the movie is that it all takes place inside her head, and therefore Jareth is not real, but that doesn't make for a good fantasy story, lol!

Big Bang Theory: Not much to say about this one - I got hooked sometime last season and have watched every episode more than once.
Pairing: Sheldon/Penny. To me they're an extreme example of opposites attract, plus, the actors have such great chemistry! I don't actually want to see them become a couple on-screen, however. I think it would alienate too many fans, and their relationship would have to progress excruciatingly slowly for it to be realistic. I'd rather just have it left open-ended, and NO SHAMY! (I don't mind Amy's character in small doses, but I don't like her being Sheldon's girlfriend.)

NCIS: I'm relatively new to this fandom - I had occasionally seen bits and pieces of episodes, since my husband loves to have the TV on as background noise all the time, and we don't have cable, but I had never watched a complete episode - to me one crime drama was like any other and I'm not really into that genre. I did notice that the main character was hot, but I didn't think any more of it that that. When I finally got the time to watch a whole episode (a rerun, sometime last summer), I was hooked (and in love with Mark Harmon). I still have a lot to catch up on - I've watched all of season 1 and am working my way through season 2 while also watching most of the current season. (I've read enough to know the basic plotline throughout the seasons I haven't watched yet.) It seems to me there's a lot of strange stuff in this fandom - team as a family, Tony/Gibbs, spanking??? I don't get it at all, but whatever floats your boat, I guess!
Pairings: Gibbs/Abby - even when I had only watched bits and pieces, I had picked up on the chemistry between them right away. And given my own penchant for liking older men, I can't imagine their relationship being only father/daughter. I also don't get why so many seem to be so vocal about their hatred for this pair - don't like, don't read. As with Sheldon/Penny, this is another pairing I would rather not see happen on-screen, but merely hinted at and left open-ended.
Gibbs/Kate - I know Kate dies at the end of season 2, but I thought they had good chemistry, in season 1 anyway... There are a few stories I'm holding off on reading until I finish watching season 2.
Just a note on Tony/Ziva - at this point I couldn't care less about this pairing, although it seems to be the most popular. Maybe after I watch seasons 3-8, I'll change my mind... :D

3 - Ones I was into before but not recently
Alice in Wonderland: I like Alice/Hatter, but there seem to be only 2 directions this story can go - Alice goes back to Underland, or the Hatter tries to adapt to Alice's world. After reading a bunch of these stories, they all started to sound repetitive to me. Not that some of them weren't well-written; I just got bored.

Superman Returns: I know Clark Kent/Lois Lane is canon, but at the end of this movie they weren't together, so... The problem was getting rid of Richard, who is a really great guy, so it's not easy - I got tired of reading *Richard gets killed in a plane crash* over and over. :P I also liked reading Superman/Jason stories, but nobody was updating very much anymore...

X-Men: I like Wolverine/Rogue, but I got bored with this one too... maybe if I watch the movies again sometime I'll get back into it.

REQUEST:
I would love to read a one-shot Big Bang Theory/NCIS crossover - Sheldon meets Gibbs. My idea goes something like this: Sheldon (with or without the rest of the guys) is in Washington for a science conference or something, and he witnesses a crime and gets interviewed by Gibbs. I can see him going off on some detailed scientific description of something and Gibbs getting frustrated, like he usually does with Abby... then I could see Sheldon insulting Gibbs' intelligence for not being able to understand (seeing as how he even insulted his boss's intelligence once), and Gibbs being offended and trying to intimidate him, and Sheldon not being intimidated at all... etc. I'm not sure how it would end, but I think it could be hilarious. If anyone wants to write this, please do, and let me know! Thanks!
