July 1942, Cliveden, England: Christine Jones begins a new job as Secretary to the ill-tempered and demanding Colonel Erik Rochard. Initially attracting the attention of Charles Grey and struggling to cope with the demands Rochard makes of her, she begins to question how much she truly knows about the two men.
