I've been on the site reading for a while now, but only recently have I taken up writing.

I was infected by Randomitisitis during my time as a bando. I get flareups occationally. ;)

My rant/opinion on Fanfiction:

I have read many wonderful works on here, some of which are on par or better than some published books out there. However, the quality of fanfiction appears to be heading on a steady decline as of late. Countless people, myself included, have grown tired of the flooding caused by a seemingly endless wave of Mary Sues, self inserts, and chatspeak/1337 fics. Please read the rules before posting a story, chatspeak stories are not allowed, among other things. Not only that, but it says specifically that all work should be checked for grammar and spelling errors. The spellcheck tool on here may not be a beta reader, but a lot of mistakes could be avoided by simply paying attention and seeing the little red squiggly lines.

Also it's grammar not grammer.

I started writing because I became tired of all the bad fics and thought to myself, "I can do better than this trash, I won't be the best, but I can do better," it was just a bonus that I discovered I liked to write. So, if you think you can do better than Mary Sues, bad grammar, etc., then please write something. With enough good stories, maybe the bad ones will be swept out, or people get the idea and stop butchering the English language.

Lastly, the "English isn't my first language, go easy on me" excuse isn't acceptable. If you use it as a crutch you will never improve, that isn't me being mean, it's the truth. Plenty of authors here aren't native English speakers, and as a part of that group, I take personal offense to people who do that. On the other hand, if you ask people to point out errors to you so you may learn, that's perfectly fine.

Sorry for that, not many things bother me but I have had enough of the people who come on here with the writing skills of a drunk 5 year old.
