Five years after the war, there is a breach in the spirit world. Spirits of all kinds come through and, for nine days, are in control of a human body. It's hard enough handling the invading presence in their minds making their choices for them, and it only complicates things worse when the two spirits inside Zuko and Katara are lovers.

Katara awakens from a coma that put her in the spirit world for five years after Ozai's fall, but her memories are gone as well as her brother, Sokka. Hallucinating that Fire Lord Azula has kidnapped him, she pirates a Fire Nation ship and sets out to find him – and to remember all she forgot – without knowing the Fire Lord is not Azula, but rather her estranged brother, Zuko.

AU, Katara, traveling companion of the Avatar, had always dreamed of the day the war would end, but she had never thought that she would be forced to marry Firelord Zuko, who was said to have killed his own father, for this to happen. When Katara tells Aang she won't help him rebuild the air nation and instead embarks on her own journey, he doesn't take it too well. When she returns she knows more than ever before about her own power (light and dark) and there is only one person who she can trust to help her out. And now she dresses in Red for Blood and Fire. To take Ozai's bending away, Aang had to best him in a battle of wills. What if Aang's beliefs weren't enough to overcome the convictions of a madman? The war was supposed to end when the Avatar defeated the Fire Lord during Sozin's Comet, but war rages on. Written for Zutara Month, prompt "the end of the world."

ZUTARA. AU where Katara was found as the last waterbender, then taken to the Fire Nation at such young age. Ozai decided to raise Katara as his own daughter, to train and use her as a weapon.
