Phil is stuck with Dan as a roommate for his first year at a pretentious boarding school for the children of the rich and successful. At first, Dan despises Phil. They soon learn that they're similar in many ways and that both of them don't feel like they fit in. The two boys face difficulties throughout the year, and get closer than they planned.
