Poll: Just curious... Who do you think Jude should wind up with at the end of Consequences? Vote Now! |
![]() Author has written 66 stories for Alias, Pokémon, Harry Potter, Recess, Gilmore Girls, Liberty's Kids, One Tree Hill, Summerland, Everwood, Lost, Wicked Science, Instant Star, Life With Derek, Charles Dickens, Ringer, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Mindy Project. Haven't updated this in waaaaaay too long, and this is just unacceptable. I apologize if updates aren't as forthcoming as you'd wish, but, well... tak zhizn/c'est la vie. I'm just trying to enjoy it. And a girl needs a break sometimes, just sayin'. But, really, also, sometimes life just kinda kicks my ass, and... there are a lot of things I have to do and read and work out lately. School-wise. So I'm sorry if that gets in the way of updating. Now, for my readers... Thanks to everyone. First I've got to thank my American and Canadian friends (hello or maybe bonjour to some of you), and also my Australian, British and/or Scottish and/or Welsh, and Irish readers, not forgetting the New Zealanders and Jamaicans, then hola y gracias a todos mis amigos mexicanos, costarricenses, argentinos, chileños, puertorriqueños, hondureños, peruanos, colombianos, bolivianos, venezolanos, panameños, ecuadorianos, guatemaltecos, paraguayos, dominicanos, salvadoreños, y españoles, then merci beacoup et bonjour à tous mes amis français... And thanks also to my readers and friends in Singapore and Malaysia (terima kasih), Japan (konnichiwa, arigatou gozaimasu), Germany and Austria (Guten Tag und danke), Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Norway (hei og takker deg), Finland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia (way to go Eastern Europe and Baltics!), Romania, Poland (Cześć and dziękuję), the Philippines (salamat), Indonesia, Iceland, Italy (grazie mille), Luxembourg (Moien an merci), Montserrat, Reunion et Guadeloupe (merci), Belgium (merci et danke), the Netherlands (hallo en dankje), Portugal and Brazil (oi e obrigado), Greece, India (a fascinating and very beautiful country), Switzerland (merci, grazie, danke), Malta, Vietnam, Thailand, China (ni hao, xièxiè), Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Serbia and Montenegro, the Russian Federation (spasibo bolshaya, ya vas lyublu), Israel (shalom, toda raba; salaam, shukrān), South Korea (gomawoyo), Antigua and Barbuda, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Dutch Antilles, Trinidad and Tobago (my brother's been there!), the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Barbados, Guam, Guyana, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Kuwait, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman (I'll refrain from making a really bad pun here, but you guys rock!), Saudi Arabia, Iran (Wow! I have readers in Iran! Also, I can't believe my stories aren't banned there), Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Monaco, Tunisia, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Africa (enkosi, ngiyabonga, ke a leboga thanks, and dankie). Oh, and the blank, nameless country it lists. And, apparently, Europe. Lol. Just Europe, according to the stats page. You all rock so hard. Seriously, I think it's really great that writing can connect so many people from different countries, and it's really awesome to know that there are people reading my stories all across the world! Sorry if I'm a bit enthusiastic, but I'm studying International Relations, so it's really cool to hear that people from all these countries I hear about and learn about in class are reading my stories. And I can think up a story or related anecdote for most of the countries up there, which is also pretty interesting. Like, you wouldn't know, for instance, that one of my roommates is Singaporean, or that I ate Chinese food every weekend in France, or that I was obsessed with ancient Egypt when I was little and went there this fall and may be the only person who didn't come back from Egypt with a tan, or that I've been to Guatemala and I went Prague last spring break, right during Easter, and that I love, love, looooove St. Petersburg. I can't believe that people from so many different countries read my work, but I am so flattered. Admittedly, Consequences is first on my update list (well, okay, I'm on a bit of a Strange Attractors kick), but I still love Wilted and really, honestly, I do want to work on it. I've been dying to work on it for ages, and I have all sorts of ideas about it. Unfortunately, it's also much harder to get inspiration for it, but I'll try to find some and work on it in my spare spare time. I promise. For starters, what you see is pretty much what you get with me. You can learn a lot about me from reading my profile. That being said, I like to throw in a little surprise every now and then. I'm a weird kid, I tell you. When I was made, the mold broke out of fear of what it had just created. ;) But I'm not completely an open book, you know. I'm just original like that. Okay, for the real stuff... ummm, my name is Loren (girl), I'm TWENTY-TWO (unfortunately, twenty-two sucks.), in grad school, and I live in the middle of everywhere for the moment. But I can't seem to settle down, despite being a really at-home kind of person. I like all sorts of fanfic, and I've read tons of it (SERIOUSLY... I'm talking like every kind here. Cartoon, Disney, Anime, Comic, TV Shows, Movies... Oh, and then some original fiction too)... Oh, and I've written tons of it, tons that I haven't published because it sucked and wasn't really going anywhere... The muse wasn't inspiring me, I guess... Basically I love reading, but I love writing about a gazillion times more. It makes me happy. Oh, yeah, and I write songs too. If you wanna see any of them, check out Consequences (well, okay, there's a song in These Games We Play, but it sucks). There's like... 12 full songs in there (including a rewrite of "24 Hours" that mostly fits the melody) and bits of 4 others. And there'll be more of course, but yeah, anyways... Other things you need to know about me... I'm a hopeless romantic, but I'm also really cynical and have a ridiculously dirty sense of humor (try that combination on for size). Seriously, I look for romance where there is none. Even when I was little. Oh, and I hate plagiarizing, and therefore don't do it and will report your ass if I know you're doing it. Ah, now it's time for the required history section where I tell you how long I've been writing and such. The answer to that question is since the dawn of time. No, really, I started when I was way little. I don't really remember a time when I wasn't coming up with stories (but it took me a lot longer to write them down!). You see, I've always been the type of person who can entertain myself, and I guess I'm kind of a daydreamer, so I would come up with little stories to amuse myself. I have an extremely vivid imagination here, kids. ;) Anyways, when I was little, I'd say them out loud, but that tends to get you weird looks. So now I either daydream about said stories, which I do A LOT or I write them out. Started writing stuff out when I was real young, about first grade or kindergarten maybe? Clearly I've improved a lot since. ;) Oh, I was a prodigious reader starting from like, 4-5 on... And they just couldn't stop me. I don't read as much nowadays, more from want of time than anything else (and computer distraction). I do, however, read a lot of fics, so I'd like to say that I know what's crap and what's not. Hm. I don't keep a diary because my life is so boring there would be no plot. Yes, I realize diaries don't have to have a plot, but really, it'd be all: did this, did this, blah. Anyways, so I came on this site (see above), and I started posting things here. I did some stuff on message boards before, and honestly, I'm kinda averse to them now because of that. Plus my stories are SO FREAKING LONG. But yeah... People tell me I'm pretty good at writing, and I'd like to think they're right. But, of course, I'm a skeptic and a realist, so I try not to believe them and let it, heaven forbid, get to my head. Wait a sec, why are you reading this? You should be out reading fics and other stuff... There's a bunch of great stuff out there... But, if you've decided to waste your time here, I might as well make it fun for you by attempting to entertain you. Note, I said attempting, which does not mean that I have to or that I have to succeed at it. ;) Songs That Are Stuck in My Head: "Get Out of My Head"/"My Secret"/"Playground" - Heavens to Betsy, "Tell You Now"- Le Tigre, "Whatever It Takes"/"Better Off Dead"/"Look at Me Now" - The Faders, "Mother Mother"/"Secret" - The Veronicas, "Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley, "Un-Sweet Sixteen" - Wakefield, "Shady Lane" - Pavement, "Temporary Insanity"/"80's Rockstar"/"NYLA" - The Weekend (because you just can't beat lyrics like: I believe you like looking like a Ramone/And I would rather kiss a Beach Boy), "Straight to My Head"/"Dizzy Dance" - Andrea Wasse, "State of Seduction" - Digital Daggers, "First Bell"/"Less of Me" - Sixty Stories, "I Like Your Girl" (French and English versions) - The Planet Smashers, "Fully Aware, Fully Prepared"/"What I Want" - The Pettit Project/Love You to Death, "Lovefool" - The Cardigans, "Should I Stay or Should I Go"/"Train in Vain (Stand by Me)" - The Clash, "Please Please Me"/"Chains"/"Hey Jude"/"Birthday"/"All My Loving"/"Please Please Me"/"Let It Be"/"Do You Wanna Know a Secret"/"Back in the U.S.S.R." - The Beatles (pretty much anything by the Beatles, though. What I'm Watching: Honestly, not much, since I never turn my TV on. That's what the internet's for. ;) Alias (I started out writing Alias, actually), Gilmore Girls (Why do they cancel every show I like?), New Girl (Is it messed up that I want to date someone exactly like Nick?), Ringer (my current obsession), The Office, Nikita, various Law & Orders, 30 Rock, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (obsessed. If you don't already watch them, do. They're free), Gossip Girl (Chuck Effing Bass. Need I say more?), Bones, 48 Hours Mystery, Bridezillas, Platinum Weddings (because, damn it, I like watching other people get their happy endings), Heroes (One word: Sylar. And I always liked Milo Ventimiglia. Seriously, makes a person wish cute mutants existed), CNN, Vampire Diaries, Melissa and Joey, Castle, True Blood, Extr@ (the French TV show, not the lame American one on celebs), Veronica Mars (best written show in television... until they cancelled it), Instant Star (my forever obsession), Jerry Springer (And, no, I am not white trash, thank you very much! It's just hilarious, and it shows you that no matter how ugly you look or how fat you are, someone will always want to sleep with you), the Maury Show (I love free paternity tests), if it's late Disney Channel (Always good for a laugh... Life With Derek was pretty cool, but hey, that's prolly 'cause of the fact that Michael Seater's in it and hot, and I'm a sucker for shows where the two main characters are in opposition (like Tru Calling and Wicked Science, even though they don't show it here yet... Which is such a bummer!)... I like Naturally, Sadie too, though), Oxygen reruns, Turner Classic (movies, that is), and other random stuff... But I'm rambling, so I'm gonna shut up now and tell you to go out and have a good time reading... again. Heroes: Chris Hansen, Joan of Arc, the Bronte Sisters, Otto von Bismarck, Jane Austen, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Mohandas Gandhi, F.D.R., Buddha, Jesus, The Beatles, Mary Wollstonecraft, Margaret Sanger, Lucy Stone, Gloria Steinem, Lilly Ledbetter, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Anita Loos, June Mathis, Herminie Cadolle, Mom (affectionately nicknamed "The Nutcracker". She's totally badass), Dad, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, Queen Elizabeth I, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson (who is, apparently, a distant relative in some way?), Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Mikhail Gorbachev, Henry Kissinger, Madeline Albright, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, Russian novelists excepting that douchebucket Tolstoy (I'm more of a Dostoevsky person myself), Vincent van Gogh, Vladimir Nabokov, J.D. Salinger, Ayn Rand, Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Gene Kelly, Marlon Brando, Audrey Hepburn, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Michael Phelps, Bruce Lee, Clark Gable, Mae West, Bette Davis, Ida Lupino, Margaret Mitchell, Laika the Space Dog, astronauts/cosmonauts, all the bitches out there, flappers, and, of course, Barack Obama. Let's see... I like black and white movies, foreign films, WRITING, voting, lollipops, the middle of the night, rain, snow, home, Christmas, rings, television, America (because it's my country, and no matter how much I make fun of it or the people that live in it, it's my home, my motherland, and I probably wouldn't rather live anywhere else in the world. Because when you go somewhere else, you miss where you come from all the more. It's where I was born and raised, and I'm proud to be an American, like the song), Coca-Cola, my awesome roommate, nice things and keeping them nice, dishwashers, traiteurs, meringue cookies, Ioan Gruffudd (okay, so he's like seventeen years older than me or whatever... but he has such pretty everything), raspberries, history, cupcakes, the Bronte Sisters, Jan Austen, John Hughes movies, the smell of my perfumes, yoga pants, foreign languages, friends, my friends, Facebook games, having a life, going out, playing with bones, talking, French, writing, music, Baz Luhrmann movies, books, dissent, being different, REVIEWS (hint! C'mon, seriously, people! The site allows me to see that you guys are reading, so could maybe one in ten of you review?), the nineties and all that entails, nostalgia, names, swearing, my childhood (generally), tumblr, hot guys (preferably brunettes), France, Metro/Subways, buses when they're on time, the sound of rain falling, the concept of dating, the concept of a boyfriend, eye-sex (don't act like you don't do it!), boy-scouting (by which I mean me scouting for boys, not guys in little green pants who camp out in the woods), blue jeans, t-shirts, leather jackets, James Dean, Wikipedia, a healthy middle ground, names, singing, love, powdered sugar, typing, my laptop (Ivan), my former laptops and computers (Gabriel, Jack and Travises I and II), red, men, candy, cartoons, options, Pat the Bunny, Pokemon, sleep, naps, science, accents, foreign tongues (languages, dummy, not the tongues of strangers!), evolution, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, sleeping in on weekdays, sitting in the hallway in the wee hours of the morning (and yet I resent it all the same), sleeping in in general, staying up late (although, so help me, if my mother tells me to dial it back and mentions something about my inner clock or whatever she calls it (if we're being technical here, what she's referring to are actually my circadian rhythms) being off one more time, I might just go insane), parentheses (can you tell?), punctuation, correct orthography, chocolate, squirrels, diplomacy, grace, the smell of freshly laundered things, the 1920s, a blanket hot out of the dryer, chicks (the ones that make the cute little cheeping sound and try and run away from you... This goes out to you, Jingleheimer), ice cream, Asia, chinese food, India, traveling, Support, writing, shiny things, diamonds, rubies, colored pearls, emeralds, making lists, Cary Grant, Andrew Jackson, learning things, bookstores, perfume, push-up bras, bright red lipstick, monuments, marble, school, writing, lilies, home, Paris, Leonid, D.C., writing, Barack Obama (our president!!), Jesus, and God. I hate walking on the beach, sand, the morning, doing homework, the smell of campfire, all flavors of whore, bigots, camping, ACNE, how boring I really am, stupidity, busywork, needlessly expensive things, when one headphone stops working, loud noises, homework, pie crust, The Grapes of Wrath, twitter, grapes in general, cauliflower, The Canterbury Tales, 7th Heaven, The 700 Club, Palin, the fact that there is an Axis of Evil, stress, evil, busywork, readings I'm supposed to do but don't give a crap about, falling asleep on the couch in a funny position, my lack of bravery, gristle, the hassels of traveling, plagiarism, people who idiotically accuse me of plagiarizing (much less a crappy fic I wrote on IM in the middle of the night, thank you, from a fandom I don't even read!), the color orange, yellow, my inability to be comfortable, lower back pain, getting off of my bed and almost dying in the process, crappy cafeteria food, clothes that ride up/fall down, passive-agressive melodrama, memorizing points on the skull, other people trying to impose their lifestyle choices on me, when my internet disconnects, my heart pounding too fast, feeling out of control, the smell of beer, fanfic cliches, Big Brother, the Patriot Act, smoke, coughing, mucus, terrorism, fear as a motivator, censorship, my cellphone, guilt, yelling, people who don't vote, the fact that all the good ones are either gay or taken, drugs, the croup/flu/coughing fits that make me think I have tuberculosis, mucus, human rights violations, gossippy cattiness, too much drama, being bossed around, the cult of celebrity, white supremacists, decisionmaking, open windows, how every wall and window in my apartment rattles, pretentious people, WHEN PEOPLE MOVE MY BELONGINGS SO I CAN'T FIND THEM, confrontational people who are crazy intense and can't S.T.F.U., friends who you know are talking about you behind your back and think Facebook is an appropriate place to communicate serious things, a revolving door of roommates, the lack of a leading man in my life, Math, crying, Sprint, LOSING THINGS I LIKE, dropped phone calls, my phone, trolls, calling people, phone calls, my lovelife (or lack thereof), not having anything good to read, 98 percent of reality television (except for that trashy bit I enjoy watching... VH1 has got my number), exception errors, certain programs that shall remain nameless, late buses, thesises, PDA! (and not just public displays of affection... what I really mean are the private ones. As in where people idiotically forget you're still in the room. It's like, WTF, roomie, I'm still in the room, and I have to put up with listening to you and your boyfriend's lips smacking. It's like, SERIOUSLY, courtesy, people? I love you, but that makes me nauseous.), Murphy's Law (although it sadly is the story of my life. I think the reason I like putting my characters through such crazy situations is that, basically, that's how my life feels a large part of the time), PEOPLE WHO REVIEW REALLY CRAPPY STORIES ON HERE AND LIKE THEM (you're the reason why we have so many dumb stories. It's not just all the thirteen-year-olds who post them, it's all of you who encourage them and don't tell them to fix factual errors, grammar, and spelling), people who complain about grammar nazis or claim to be grammar nazis AND MISSPELL THE WORD "GRAMMAR" (Not only is it ridiculously ironic, but it basically negates your point there. Also, grammar IS SPELLED WITH TWO As, not an E, dumbasses!) waiting for someone to call me (I don't wanna be that girl who waits by the phone, damn it!), viruses, prions, and pretty much all pork products (nothing religious- I just loathe how utterly bland and flavorless it is and the annoying way it gets stuck in my teeth). Oh, and if something's really popular with other people, a lot of times I will swear it off. Because I don't want to be like everybody else. My motto is: "Be different or be damned!" Okay, so I totally ripped that off from Margaret Mitchell and changed one word, but you get the picture. Advice: Don't care about what other people think. It's liberating. If you let other people's reactions control your life, then it won't be your life anymore. Don't be afraid to be different. Embrace it! No two humans are born completely alike. Even identical twins are born with different fingerprints. So why should everyone act the same? A world like that would hardly be any fun, I should think. Plus, seriously, only losers who aren't secure in themselves want to be the same as other people. I will fight for what I believe in. And I'm kind of stubborn. Don't know if you could tell that. ;) Obsession(s) of the moment: trying NOT TO GO INSANE, group projects and papers, DarcyDay, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, making Socially Awkward Darcy memes, novel writing, how to live on my own, my beautiful laptop (IVAN), SLEEP, my friends, my family, Russian things, Marina and the Diamonds, Eastern Europe (I'm talking about you, Belarus), music, the economy (which honest-to-God scares me more and more the more I read about it), finding a straight, dateable man (Seriously, where the hell are you?!), Thanksgiving Break!, getting a date at some point during my life with someone I actually want to go out with (ha!), coke (the drink, not the drug), job search, the future (what an ominous word you are!)... Random sidenote to all people who seem surprised when they find this out: I do actually take the time to respond to every signed review. Every single one, no matter how short or how long. And nine times out of ten, I respond promptly (and generally with a reply that's at least twice as long as the review itself... ha, and you think I kid!). I really do appreciate every review. Obviously I can't legally respond to the anonymous ones (according to site rules), although those are also highly appreciated. Unless you're flaming me, 'cause I can't really say I appreciate that, now can I? But if you are, don't give it to me in a cowardly anonymous review. Another important note: Authors don't necessarily always think what their characters think. Just like we don't say what our characters say most of the time. Even if we write in first person. So, if you're going to send me any annoying reviews saying I'm this or I'm that or, worse yet, accuse me of something just because of the way I wrote something, keep in my that I am not my characters. Simply put, YOU DON'T KNOW ME. You know a part of me, but you don't know the whole story, and unless you've seriously sat down and picked my brain on the subject, I don't think you can accurately pin me down or call me prejudiced or ignorant or whatever... And hell yeah, I'm going to be pissed at you for trying to pigeonhole me like that! ...Also keep in mind that the way it was written might've been done on purpose to say something about the character or his/her frame of mind. But, most importantly, keep in mind the fact that pretty much 100 of the time it wasn't meant to offend anyone, so, by taking it in that way, you're taking it out of its original offhand context. I don't set out to offend people, but I just might satirize a little, 'mmmkay? Also, I love talking to new people (jeez, now I sound like one of those girls in the Quest Personal ads)... Actually, I love talking in general. About anything, really. Though I'd advise not starting me on the subject of politics or you might wind up having to listen to one of my infamous rants. Really, I am a wonderful conversationalist. I sparkle with words. ;) Seriously, though, if you wanna plague me with questions about my story, or try and nag me into updating (although I'd advise not threatening me, I don't take too kindly to that), or ask me questions about writing/editing/writer's block-ish problems, just PM me. Lol, I'm pretty much always here, so even if you harass me I'm probably not gonna ignore you. Plus, nifty little fact, I'm a beta-reader now! Ooh, and hugs to sis...You know who you are... Anyways, if you've actually read this whole thing, then you obviously have waaay too much free time and should be off reading some absolutely scrumptious fic instead. Check out my faves if you want. I happen to have excellent taste. Scram, you hear? ;) I've kept you too long. Now, off with you! - Loren ;) | |||||||
