My name is Marianne Catherine Malfoy, and I am 16 years old. I am the daughter of Augustus Malfoy (younger brother of Lucius Malfoy) and Marie de Lioncourt (cousin of Narcissa Malfoy, nee de Guise). I am currently in my fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and am in Ravenclaw house. I am currently studying for my OWLs (Transfiguration, Potions, DADA, Astronomy, Charms, Divination, Herbology) and hope, good OWL results permitting, to take Potions, DADA, Astronomy and Transfiguration in the NEWTs, with the ultimate intention of becoming a teacher after leaving Hogwarts. My cousin Draco and I are the last remaining heirs of the Malfoy family (we Malfoys are one of the three main Slytherin families; Snape, Malfoy, and de Lioncourt) and are bound to continue the bloodline. I am, therefore, betrothed to Severus Snape, and have been since birth. We are to marry as soon as I graduate from Hogwarts, and I must admit I'm rather pleased with my intended husband. We have known each other since I was a child, and I love him dearly. He is, admittedly, somewhat older than me, but this has never been a problem in other such arranged Slytherin marriages. Our union will unite the families of Malfoy and Snape and will strengthen the Slytherin dynasty. It has already been decided that any female child of mine will marry the firstborn male child of Draco's (he is to marry Diana de Lanois, a girl from a good French family.) In appearance I am relatively slim, with long, wavy black hair. I have violet eyes (a gift from my mother), and have skin so pale I am told I often look on the verge of fainting. Personally I enjoy my rather gothic appearance. It seems to intimidate my younger relatives and schoolmates. My father's branch of the Malfoy family is rather different from that of my uncle Lucius, due to their differing opinions on the Dark Arts, and our two families have had little to do with each other for years. I have enjoyed a liberal upbringing, and am well-versed in Muggle literature and music. I especially enjoy the work of Yeats and Shakespeare. My favourite colours are purple and, rather predictably, green. I have a black pet cat called Astraeus, and an eagle owl called Artemis. |
