Author has written 10 stories for Naruto, Shakugan no Shana, Bleach, Harry Potter, Slumdog Millionaire, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. My stories: Though my writing has changed over the years, I have found I have two main writing 'modes.' I either write serious stories that study a particular character or relationship, or I write fairly simple parodies. All of my works are self-edited. I was fairly young while writing the stories you see posted. For these two reasons, my stories do contain some errors. I apologize in advance for the mistakes you see. Deleted fics: Over the years, I have deleted several stories for a variety of reasons. The most common reason was I felt the story was not well executed. Writing is always a learning process. The other main motivator behind removing stories is that I have simply lost the drive to complete the story. Unfortunately, I do not keep copies of the stories I have deleted. My advice: Use this site to experiment with different writing styles, techniques, as well as new ideas. This site helps us grow as authors, there are no marks here. Do not be afraid if you aren't as good as other authors, writing takes time to improve and practice makes perfect. Whilst we may get discouraged by ourselves and by others, so long as we actively try to improve and don't give up writing, it matters very little what others think of you. Try your best. :D I'd also like to add that all authors improve with experience. It's hard to remember that we are a collective community here, made up of people who are different ages and speak different languages. There are often more simple reasons for differing writing levels, and I often find that it is age. Just because you aren't a great writer today doesn't mean you can't be tomorrow, if that is a goal of yours. I think FanFiction is a great outlet for a lot of ideas. I've had a lot of fun over the years reading so many great ideas and I am thrilled to have been a part of such an amazing community for over ten years now. That being said, I've also seen a lot of cruel things said on this site. However, I think that overall the majority of authors on this site do understand and appreciate the effort everyone puts into their works. If you do find yourself running into someone who utters hateful remarks towards you, please remember you don't have to put up with that attitude. Though I will likely never meet you, I want you to know that you are a wonderful person with wonderful ideas. We are all growing and trying to learn how to better express ourselves. We encounter problems that seem like the end of the world now, but as we learn better coping skills, we deal with them better. If you for whatever reason find yourself struggling with depression or something a long those lines, I want you to know that you are not alone. If you find yourself unable to cope, it is my deepest wish that you reach out for help. Not for those around you, but for yourself. You deserve to be confident and secure about yourself. I've seen a lot of profiles over the years condemning different life choices, lifestyles and differing view points. My only comment on this issue is that the world is not divisible into black and white, and that is silly to stand on a soap box (platform, so to speak) without fully comprehending the impact you are having on your readers. Regarding troll-fics: A lot of people get angry or offended reading stories that intentionally employ bad grammar, spelling and so forth. Though it is just my two cents, I think ultimately FanFiction is something we do fun. The creators of these troll-fics are just out for a laugh. I think it is pretty harmless entertainment (for the most part), and on rare occasion, an actual clever way of poking fun at some rather tired storylines. I don't it's something to get worked up about, though I do acknowledge that a FanFic community can get very diluted very quickly with too many of these stories running about. It is a difficult balance. Goodbye: I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years. I am so amazed that people continue to enjoy stories I wrote what feels like a lifetime ago. I still read your comments, and they never fail to put a smile on my face. At the cost of sounding old, my writing days have come to an end. I have not used this website in a long time and will not in the future. I find myself a reader more than a writer these days- and I am quite happy to remain that way. Though I am not sure how many people find themselves reading my profile, given my longstanding inactivity, I didn't want to leave readers with the feeling "whatever happened to so-and-so?" That being said, while I am not disabling private messaging, you should not expect a reply-not for lack of caring, I assure you... I am just in a different chapter of my life right now. :) All the best, Piper Julian |
