Author has written 1 story for Vampires. Hi everyone. So I've been on here awhile, but never bothered to fill out a profile before. I figured I ought to since I seem to get a lot of hits on my profile page, and I guess it's annoying to find a blank page. So anyway, about me: I'm a student, I'm a girl, and I like to write. I actually write a lot of short stories and such, most of them not like the fun, somewhat frivolous story I have here. I would publish them here or on FictionPress (which I'm also on) but I wouldn't know how to classify them and they'd end up under "Miscellaneous" where no one would ever read them. Right now I'm working on "The Diplomacy of Love." Basically I wanted to write something that was less intense than an analysis of Russian Literature, but still in coherent English. I'm trying to use it as an exercise in character and plotting; I'm contemplating using these characters in another story, or applying them to plots I've already written for other characters to see how their personality quirks change the stories/meanings. I have a finished story that I plan to publish here in a few weeks. Story hinges on two characters trying to keep the third out of the clutches of Heaven while not letting Heaven know they're involved. Plus some romance. I wrote it ages ago, but I'd like to revisit it and edit some of my crappier phrasing out of it, plus tie up some gaping plot holes (and probably rewrite that weird epic ending I tried...). So you might want to look for that soon. Should be fun. I may also revisit a story I half-wrote, dealing with some of my favorite themes: sex and conspiracy politics. That story began as a meditation on how a lot of vampire stories center around girls who were sexually abused, but those girls seem to get over their emotional wounds pretty quickly in the face of attractive immortals. So I took that thought a little further and tried to figure out (through exaggeration) what a history of sexual abuse actually does to an already awkward relationship like that. Then I suffered an epic case of brain blockage, but I'm due for surgery in a few weeks or so, which ought to take care of the problem. On that note: I usually don't give up on stories. However, if you'll remember, I am a student, which means that sometimes I have to go to class, and stay up all night writing papers, and sometimes even grab a bite to eat or sleep for a few hours. So story updates can be slow. I figure people would rather wait for a quality chapter than get a half-assed 300 word quickie. I'm not good at instant gratification; for that, you'll have to go to the movies. |
