![]() Author has written 1 story for Steven Universe. BIO Hello everyone! My name is Gwen and I make up one half of G-Squared. Creative writing has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I remember fantasizing as a young child about worlds that I could create and warp to my own desire. The more I wrote, the more confidence and experience I received in return. I finally worked up the courage to start posting in late 2016 with my best friend G. G here! AKA the other half of G2. I’ve always loved novels, short stories, poems or anything of the like; so, eventually it led me to my infatuation of creative writing. After a little push, a few shoves and a WHOLE lot of persuasion; I convinced Gwenny to publish with me. We started near the end of 2016, now here we are! Still posting and growing as writers with every new chapter:) How we got into Steven Universe : Gwen: In mid summer 2016, I had heard a lot about a certain cartoon named Steven Universe. Deciding to watch the first episode, it didn't really catch my interest. After a lot of persuasion from a certain someone... I'm not going to name any names *cough* G *cough, I decided to do a 24 HOUR marathon. I only made it through 20 hours before I passed out. But anyways, the show now holds a very special place in my heart. I really can't pick a favourite character though *hides Peridot shrine*. G: Long story short, SU was introduced to me by family and couple of close friends. I later went on to convince Gwenny to continue watching and infected her with the Steven Universe Bug. Though I may be a big fan, I’m not as hardcore as some people... Gwen: :/ thanks for listening to my ramblings... Some information about our stories: Sitting Pretty and Standing Alone Gwen: In December 2016, I decided to accompany my mother to a Christmas party she had to DJ. Knowing that Christmas season can be INSANE on my mom and her boyfriend, I thought she might want some company. During the evening, my mom left the ballroom and came back with a cup of green tea. Deciding that a little caffeine would help me get to one in the morning(quitting time), I too got a cup. Stopping in the door frame, my mind suddenly conjured the idea of a young DJ encountering a rich girl her age at a Christmas party and falling in love; a cup of split tea being the catalyst for the encounter. Rushing to Snapchat my best friend, we began to expand the idea together. And the rest is history. G: Once I heard the pitch for this story, I was hooked. After hours, days even, of discussing; we came up with a plot, a title and bases for characters. It wasn’t thought to be a SU Fic in the planning stages but as we went along the design process, it just happened:) Gwen: We hadn’t even had the ship planned either, it was kind of a [INSERT SHIP NAME HERE] kind of thing. Honestly, lapidot just happened to be in the right place at the right time. G: SPSA is by far our first priority, as we post a chapter each Monday, Wednesday and every Friday. Whereas all other Fics are more casual with about 1-2 uploads every week or two. Gwen: Once SPSA is over *cries* we will change our focus to Ward Six. And maybe we’ll even write a spinoff story composed of one shots; we’ll have enough new characters to do it… *winks* G: ;))))) (PSA this story is quite fluffy and light on serious conflict so, if you like more intense stories check out Ward Six!!!) Ward Six Gwen: During a brainstorming/writing session for SPSA, I had the idea of having teens admitted to mental hospitals for a central plot to a new story. G: After Gwenny gave me her usual plot spiel, I figured why not add superpowers to the mix? Gwen: Then soon enough we came up with the 1-5 wards idea and a secret 6th ward. We wrote out "folders" for each character, then we began writing the first chapter the next day. G: Also! Just as a disclaimer, this story deals with some very heavy topics. Please keep that in mind! No Man’s Land G: Pretty much all creative credit goes to Gwenny on this one tbh… Don’t blame me if you get hit in the feels... Gwen: BUT! WE’VE OFFICIALLY JOINED FORCES. I originally wanted to do this independently but working with G is just too fun. We have a riot. G: YEEEE Gwen: AHAHAHA YES, I had had this in the making for months. I wanted to do a high school drama and since I absolutely freaking love the transition from enemies to lovers I needed to include it. Also, I loved most of the satirical elements of the planning as I decided to make fun of many tropes. As for the name, it came to me pretty quickly. I hate to ruin a metaphor by explaining it but I just have to, so I’ll do it carefully. No man's land: Disputed ground between the front lines or trenches of two opposing armies. The dictionary definition Contradictions Gwen: Again, this one started independent. After getting inspiration from reading several short stories, I decided to start this one. I mainly wanted explore the idea of what is running through the mind of a bully as they hurt their victim. And to do so, I needed to explore the darker parts of human nature. Don’t get me wrong though, I love psychology, so I had a field day doing research and planning the plot. As I needed a character who dealt with decisions and feelings based on thinking, I chose Peridot as my protagonist. I also found it much easier to write for a character who acts differently based on their motives than I do using MBTI. If you don’t know what that is, then LOOK IT UP. It will greatly help you understand yourself better. I used INTJ(Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking and Judging) for Peridot. The people who are part of this personality type are the most rational and logical with situations and decisions as I stated earlier. Because of this, they have an incredibly hard time understanding their own emotions(even needing to scrutinize the certain emotion for a long time before reaching a conclusion)and by extension the emotions of those around them. But I reiterate, MBTI is very useful in not only helping you understand yourself but others as well. I seriously recommend it. G: l… I think you covered all the bases... Gwen: Thanks for sitting through that massive wall of text Final Notes if you managed to read through all that... Congrats!!! As of right now, we are mainly an SU fanfic account. But! We have many plans ahead so watch out;) Suggestions and Constructive Criticism are always cool with us:) If we miss an upload feel free to PM us, we're human we forget things and it helps to remind us! Both of us ARE full time students so, on occasion our studies will interfere with our work:( But, we'll make a point to let you know!!! |
