![]() Author has written 1 story for Pretender. Here I go again. We all are here because of a psychiatric disorder, aren't we ? so here is the classical bla bla bla, to let it go. I have read and written stories for years and had many other preoccupations after that, then I was not active at all in the communities. In the 2000s, I was particularly involved around The Pretender, tv series that I still like very much. Be clear : I'm an old man and if I'm there again, that's only because of I read again lemons, as some people have a particular imagination for that kind of funny things. Well. I'm Syd ("hello, Syd !"). I live near Belgium and am not so aged even I sometimes feel really old. So I'm a huge fan of The Pretender, and that's an euphemism. Without being a reason to live :p, the tv series was more than a tv series because being a real part of my life. Who didn't understand that won't ever understand me. The series helped me a lot, to grow up (even I was already partly grown up) and to meet people I still love, and to be myself. I still run a website about the tv series, even it's on work now. All the rest is in the past now *sigh, so I won't extend my speech about it. All I can add is that it's still more than a tv series and, with a bit recoil, it's more sad, more painful and more helpful at the same time* But I still am fond of tP, so don't hesitate if you wanna me for beta-reader. I know the tv series very well. I had more crushes in the past but am here again because of Sherlock BBC. I'm fond of literature, especially the Victorian age, especially crime stories too. I read Arthur Conan Doyle at first when I was a very little boy, was scared reading The Hound of the Baskervilles and knew something was happening. If Sherlock Holmes sometimes was a jerk, I was fascinated by his intelligence and totally understood why John Watson was so close to him all the time (at that moment, I didn't think about the ship eventuality, which is not everything for me now, let's be clear, it's only a sort of modern "add on"). I started watching Sherlock thinking that was no way I could be really fond of it because I liked so much the original stories. I didn't know that Mark Gatiss was behind the whole thing, with Steven Moffat. Those men are fuckin' genius, and I could write odes to Mark Gatiss as I like that man so much for his really deep & funny dialogs in all his work. Only for Belgravia, I could write an ode for The Moff too. Well. After only thirteen minutes, I was fond of Sherlock. This is a personal record. The tv series is not only good, that's just brilliant, and I like it so much that's just insane. This is the second time in my life that I think that much around a tv series, and that it makes me things that have nothing to do with TV or creation. It's also the second time a tv series helps me to think more about building again my life in another way. And I did. I changed a lot, it helped me to be myself. Well, I won't be longer about those two particular eras. I will explain what I like, briefly. My favorite tv series are : - The Pretender, of course. I don't like the love stories that much. I've not become a noromo but don't wanna see Jarod & Miss Parker together, sorry. I prefer the real mythological stories, where we can think about the deepest secrets of the universe (the tv series one, the real one too). If I read love stories, I prefer the ones where the love is impossible. I don't like Thomas at all and like unconventional things in general. I would be amazed to be still surprised. Favourite characters : Jarod, Miss Parker, Lyle, Cox, Catherine and of course Sydney (my pseudonym comes from it). For that tv series, I'm not fond of slash (even I could read some Lyle/Cox :p). - Sherlock BBC. I LOVE it. As I said, I am a HUGE fan of the Conan Doyle books and the BBC adaptation is so great I still can't believe how good it is. I like it as a whole genius thing, but I like reading there lemons, because that keeps my mind focused on something great mentally. Fav couple : John/Sherlock, of course, who else ? Of course, I'm like everyone, I'm really amazed by the Benedict Cumberbatch interpretation and I really like Martin Freeman too. For me, he has given a real life to John Watson, who was such a mystery for me. That helped me to understand the "guy". I LIKE Mycroft & Moriarty. OK, I am a shipper for that tv series when reading fanfictions, but be clear : the original the best ; everything's perfect in it and I love the dialogs, I love the ambiance, I love everything. - Knight Rider. No slash, no love stories, nothing like that. What interests me is only the adventure/technicals part. I wrote a lot of years ago a very funny & bad spin off. I LIKE Garthe Knight. I still want a Pontiac Trans Am. - NCIS. I watch it since the first season and like it so much, even I'm happy that the red hair director left :p. I read a lot of fanfictions after season 6, and was a bit shocked by the fan inventions. Since then, my fav couple is Gibbs/Tony. My favourite character still is Abby. I am a gothic boy too, even I don't wear the same kind of things all the time. - Kaamelott is a French tv series, maybe the best one. All is about Arthur and the Graal. The tv series was comic but finally very dramatic after the 4th Book. I LOVE it. I just am so fond of the Book 5 and the Book 6. If you understand French, you should have a look, especially if you like this universe. My favourite characters are Arthur, Lancelot (his dark side), Yvain and Gauvain (I can even read slash fanfictions involving them :D). I can't wait for the films. - Queer As Folk UK. Because it's just a must-have. Great quality, the tv series is perfect. I don't like the US version as I am a UK bitch forever. But I will visit the USA again like Stuart & Vince. I LIKE Vince. - The League of Gentlemen. I don't know if fanfictions exist but be clear, the original's the best, as usual. I also like (and this is an unfinished list) (* = alive tv series & still watching) : The A-Team, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (under season 5), Castle, CSI, CSI New York, CSI Miami (I stopped all the CSI because it was too easy to guess who murdered who after watching two seasons of it), *Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives (season 1), Downton Abbey, Highlander, JAG, *Life On Mars, Lois & Clark (seasons 1 and 2), Mighty Boosh, Misfits, Monk, Profiler, Scrubs, That 70s Show, The Big Bang Theory, The IT Crowd, *The Simpsons, Stargate (but I stopped, I jut watched it from time to time even I really like Daniel), Without A Trace (but I stopped), X-Files (before season 8). Generally, I'm fond of the BBC style, if you know what I mean :D. I really like the Romantism (all the arts), and I'm a bit old school sometimes :D. The other part of myself really is fond of lemons, graphic slash & extreme things. That's quite logical, as that's a not so known part of the Romantism : TRYING. Being asexual does not mean that I am not interested in the sexual questions, I really am curious about the human being, and that's an important part of it, even lemon fanfictions are generally fictions written by girl for girls, which is weird. That still is funny as hell. Don't be too much serious, please, tells my brain to myself. For the cinema part, my favs are Only Lovers Left Alive, Control (but I don't read RPF about Joy Division), Lost Highway, Carlito's Way... I also like real "good" (for me) blockbusters or comedies (I've seen Jurassic Park more than 60 times, and one of my fav films ever is La Cité de la peur)... ...and the ones for which I could read stories Velvet Goldmine, Brokeback Mountain, Hannibal Lecter (outside the last published one). For literature, my favs are : Jane Austen, the Brontë sister (all), Choderlos de Laclos, Roald Dahl, Conan Doyle, Faulkner, Gautier, John Harvey, Hemingway, Hoffmann, Kafka, Keats, Maurice Leblanc, Lovecraft, Malcolm Lowry, Melville, Anne Perry, Poe, Jacques Poulin, Rousseau, Sjöwahl and Wahlöö, Wilde, Virginia Woolf, etc. I also like comic books (my fav one is The Life & Times of $crooge McDuck) and the "Belgian" bande dessinée. I'm also fond of painting (especially the Romantism movement too). I read a lot but not always connected, so I don't post a lot of comments, I'm sorry, and don't add everything to my favs. I'm a bit shy, but if you send me a message or something, I generally answer quickly :). |
