'Ello everybody! I am Steefwaterbutter! I am a girl who loves derping around on this site, reading fanfictions to satisfy my fangirl needs. As you can see from my list of fandoms, I am quite diverse in my fandoms, so you'll probably find something you like on here! Other sites I am on: Deviantart: Startoucher - mostly fanart, with a few photos and original art pieces Youtube: Unicornlover81- I've got several fan-trailers on there, including ones for Here Be Dragons, Outcasts, Shift (a fan comic by Maddie Moore), and Having Coffee with Captain Rogers (by koolgirl1120)). I also have a comic dub of Volumes 1-4 and 11 of an original comic "The Cloud Maker" also by Maddie Moore. I've always loved to make up fanfictions and crossover, even before I know they were even called those things. To help myself fall asleep, I would take characters from a book or movie I liked and make up stories about them (usually involving hurt/comfort). I would call them "dream-movies" because I would play them like a movie in my head. My first crossover was a Spirit/Cars 2 "mixer", but it turned out pretty bad. I got into fanfiction back into 2013. I was derping around (as usual) and decided to check out this website called "Fanfiction." I was looking through the list of movies and saw that HTTYD was one of the first one. I had enjoyed the movie, and so decided to check it out. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. One, in particular, Mindbender by KeshaRocks sucked me in so much that I when I came to the end, I looked over at my clock and saw that it was 5 in the morning. Whoops. After that day, I decided to abandon my rather sucky original fiction stories and try my hand at this "fanfiction." I had already been working on a Bella Sara fanfiction, Beyond the Northern Lights (which had been well received by other writers on Howrse), and so decided to type it up and post it here. I never did finish that story, as you can see, but I later decided to start on a HTTYD/Spirit crossover called Here Be Dragons. I had made two other stories that had come before Here Be Dragons in my head, a Spirit/Cars and a Spirit/Brave fanfiction, both of which I eventually got around to posting. Outcasts: One night, as I was nearing the end of Here Be Dragons, I decided to watch the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, for the first time. When I came to the scene where Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Merry are begging to be let into that town, I was struck by an idea. Spirit and Hiccup. They're on the run, tired, exhausted. People won't let them in because of the darkness that is following them. I liked the idea, and so decided to start shaping a story around it, a gigantic crossover of HTTYD, Spirit, Frozen, ROTG and Wreck-it Ralph. Unfortunately, progress went very slow, and I grew out of the fandoms before I finished it. The whole thing took almost three years, and I won't lie: I'm glad it's done. Cookies for a Night Fury: I got the idea for a Veggie Tales/HTTYD crossoverwhile listening to this Veggie Tales Christmas CD for about the hundredth time. It was basically written to help me keep my sanity during finals. (All Things Wise and Wonderful served the same purpose a couple years later). Saving Him: For a while, I really got into Big Four stories, and so decided to write a short fic based off a small comic by this person on Deviantart called 1Joydreamer. I kind of skimped on the explaining parts, though. No One Cares: This was a totally random story which was posted bit by bit on Deviantart. I basically had no idea where I was going almost the entire time and so just kept throwing in more feels. Island of the Lost: Before I came to FFN, I had an account on WattPad. It's pretty much dead now, but one day some staff member from the site contacted me about writing a short HTTYD story to promote the new movie. They would create official cover art for me and post it on a official HTTYD group. At first, I brushed it off as nothing more than a scam, but then I decided, "Hey, what's the worst that could happen?" I was on the clock for this one, which stressed me out a little, but I did manage to get it done in time and received a $100 Amazon gift card for my efforts. (Yeah, it was legit. I flipped.) Nothing Left: was pretty much what the description said: a random angst drabble. I was reading a book on writing and it had a suggestion for ending a chapter with these lines " 'I'm sorry,' she said. 'I can't do this.' Then the line went dead." I had been plowing through DW at the time (5 seasons in a single month, apparently), as well as listing to the audiobooks, so naturally, my mind went to Doctor Who. Turned out to be a total flop, but eh, you win some, you lose some. Twisted Minds and Second Thoughts: I, like some other people, was shocked when I found out Hans was evil. And yet I was pretty sure he was going to since it's basically a law in fiction that charaters don't get together until the end of the end of the story, so I knew they were going to break up for some reason. But still, his character intrigued me, and I wanted him to get redemption. Just Another Day in Camelot: This was a fun one. One night when I was watching Merlin and screaming at the characters to not do this or that, I thought to myself "Hey, wouldn't it be fun to pretend like I'm in the story? What would I say? What would I do?" It was a ton of fun to play around with that, since, more than any other movie/tv show/book, I really, really would love to go into that world. I did write another short story that I posted only on Deviantart, which I might someday post on here. It's not very good, though. XD The Price You Must Pay: The idea for this one came from the thought of "I'm surprised the Doctor doesn't have more enemies after all the lives he's taken." And then I thought... "What if there's some kind of intergalactic police who punish those who have done wrong?" It started out as a "dream-movie" and then I decided to type it up as a screenplay. Unfortunately, FFN doesn't allow that, so I translated it back into a normal story. Chased: Yes. I like Lab Rats. It's the only Disney show I actually like because of it's surprisingly good action and adventure (for a Disney Channel show). It started out as a shameless, plot-hole ridden, h/c dream movie. I decided to write it up and justify myself by reading up on how to write battle scenes. It actually did pretty well, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a review from a Lab Rats writer I looked up to, daphrose. do you wanna have a bad Time? : On December 2 of 2015, I made the decision to write something every day. I'm still surprised I've actually stuck to this. It started as something to help me finish Outcasts, but it also helped me come up with quite a few short stories. I got the idea from a prompt and wrote it kind of on an adrenaline high. I didn't know exactly where it was going, but it all turned out in the end. Hit and Run: Even before I saw Zootopia, even when I basically knew nothing about it, I knew I was going to love Zootopia. Why? Because it had a freaking bunny cop and a cute fox. When I did see it, it blew me away, quickly becoming my favorite Disney movie. So that night, I decided to write some shameless Nick whump with a little mystery and "on-the-run h/c" thrown in. With my list of fandoms growing longer by the minute, I was hesitant to post it, but when I woke up the next morning, I found that my inbox had just about exploded. Courage: Just basically some short stories exploring Frisk's character I came up with during my daily writing sessions. Road to Nowhere: My first and only real "tag." I call it my "love letter to Uncharted." Man. The beginning of Uncharted 2 just about made me explode. After seeing Nate get to safety, I was literally jumping around my room, internally squealing. Then I was mad, because we skipped to 6 months earlier and I wasn't going to be able to find out what happened next until much later. I thought to myself "If he doesn't get some comfort, or I don't get to see it, I will be PISSED." Luckily, someone did come and rescue Nate, but I still kind of wanted to stretch the moment and explore around a little more, which was fun. The Struggle is Real: One night, my friend introduced me to Psych, and I have been in love ever since. So, of course, I had to write a h/c fic. I like adding "twists" to my h/c stories, like "Hit and Run" being an "on the run" h/c fic, "Chased" in involving a battle scene, and "Road to Nowhere" taking time to explore the characters. So, I wanted this story to be a story where the struggle was real, where Shawn ended up having to rescue himself... on a HORSE. (Haha, being a writer is so fun sometimes.) And just like that, there was everything I wanted in a Psych fic. Still, beginning was hard, but once I found my groove, it went very fast. I wrote it during summer, which provided me with plenty of time to sit back, relax, and just write. Friends in the Strangest of Places: This one has a rather interesting story behind it. One night around late December, a little way into my daily writing, I was struck by an idea. Sans wakes up to find someone. Possibly from MLP. Why not Sombra? And so I did. Unfortunately, I had to stop early because I had three really hard finals the next day. But after finishing the finals and coming home, I decided to see where this story took me. In all honesty, I was pretty sure it'd be a quick, weird one-shot that just skulked around in the word documents where I keep my daily writing. But it didn't. It spun completely out of control, and I had little idea as to where it was going. At times, it felt like I wasn't the one telling the story, that I was just sitting back and watching the characters. Unfortunately, all that pantsing left me with a very messy story. The whole thing took about four months to revise, but all that work left me with a well-polished story I'm very proud of. Child of Mercy: I wanted to write something where Asriel was able to return to the surface, and a sort-of sequel to Friends in the Strangest of Places seemed like a good way to go about it. I wrote it not too long after finishing Friends and so had to put off revising it until I was done with Friends. All Things Wise and Wonderful: When I returned home from watching the movie Fantastic Beasts, I just knew I had to write something for it. But what? Then, while I was brushing my teeth, an idea hit me like a train wreck. Newt protecting his creatures, and his creatures protecting him! Role reversal! Maybe he could find some hurt or injured animal... gain their trust. I almost began squealing. Almost. Bedtime Stories: It was almost midnight, and I still hadn't written anything for the day. I thought about adding a few words to "The Night Runners" but then I was like "I want a bedtime story. Something nice and cozy." I ended up pounding the whole thing out between the hours of 12 and 1. I didn't feel so great, but somehow my fingers kept tapping away at the keyboard until it was finished. (The next day I went and cleaned it up a bit.) Fight: Started out as shameless Attack on Titan hurt/comfort because I needed something to pour all my swirling emotions into. But then it got really deep and angsty. I wrote it using a style I'd never tried before: having two plot arcs in the same story. A Late Night's Drink: Yes, I did kind of steal the title from that one Amnesia custom story. One night, a month or two after falling in love with Attack on Titan, I came up with the randomly random idea of Sasha finding a drunk Eren and having to keep him from getting caught by Captain Levi, just to kind of try bouncing the two characters off each other. I ended up changing Eren to Jean as well as pushing the story off, letting it stew in my head until I finished the rough draft of "The Night Runners." The wait was well worth it, however, and I had a great time writing it. The Night Runners: Arrow/Psych crossover, because the combining of those two fandoms really intrigues me, that mix of lightheartedness and angst, of the playful Shawn and emotionally-scarred Oliver. Just might turn out to be my first novel. Shawn and Gus go to Starling City to visit Gus's cousin, and, like usual, they get sucked into a grand mystery. Shout out to IlluminatiGirl. Without her, this story probably wouldn't have gotten done. Panic Attack: This story is kinda personal. I originally wrote it just for kicks and giggles after seeing the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, and coming up with the "stupid" idea of Spider-Man, hurt/comfort and a horse. Then, a few days into revising it, I started college. I was away from everyone I had ever known, and it was a little panicky. The first two days were some of the hardest I've gone through. Then I realized... what I was going through wasn't too far off from what I was writing about. By Any Other Name: Oh man. So, I originally started reading "Rules of Engagement" just so I could get some free gems to use in some of the other stories. As such, I decided to show how little I cared about it by naming the characters all ridiculous names. Then one night I decided to see if there was a category for "Choices" on here. Oh man, oh man, was I ever tickled pink to see that there was. And so, of course, I had to add to it. White Noise: I love Persona 4 with all my heart, as well as all the characters, so of course I had to write some hurt/comfort for it. Waaaay back I started making up a "movie short" in my head as I tried to fall asleep about Yosuke getting beat up by some bullies, but I could never get very far before I would fall asleep. I wanted to see how it all worked out, so I decided to try writing it out, and writing it as if it were a movie, using cinematic POV. I wanted my writing to be as polished as it could be, so spent almost a month revising it. Son: I was talking to a friend over Discord one night (around midnight, mind you XD) and ranting about how good Detroit Become Human was (like I often do) and started ranting about how Hank should have been the one to talk Connor into becoming deviant instead of Markus/North. I started throwing out some opening lines to my friend and ended up being like "Yeah, I know it's past midnight, but I'm gonna go write this now." Bleed For Me: In late summer of 2018, my editor, cosette141, recommended the show White Collar to me. I enjoyed it, thought her and I both agreed that "The Front Man" needed quite a bit more whump to it. Cue the fanfiction. Black Orchid: Back in the fall of 2017, I joined a Dungeons and Dragons group. Instead of a usual campaign, or characters would go on a series of mini adventures. The DM decided that our characters should all have "goals" that they would then get their own little short story and get to complete. I really liked the goal I had come up with (finding a brother who had been mysteriously kidnapped about 15 years prior) and I left all the details as to what had happened to him up to my DM, so I was quite anxious to see what he came up with. Unfortunately, things really fell apart, and we had to stop (aaaaaand I haven't been able to find a DnD group since :P). However, I still really, really wanted to know what had happened to Murdoch, so I eventually cornered the DM and made him tell me all that he had planned. I then wrote it up, which actually turned out to be rather fun, as I was able to tweak bits to make them more dramatic and more to my liking. Upcoming stories (yes, they're all h/c related. halp.) Detroit Become Human: believe (in) me: Connor really didn't want to go to the party, mostly because of all the nausea filling his stomach. Maybe he could convince Hank to take him home before he threw up in front of... everyone. (Human!Connor AU) My Hero Academia: The Madman's Hour: It had been years since Todoroki last saw her. Hands buried in knotted sleeves, eyes hidden in the shadow of her old panda hoodie. Little does he know, she's back for a very specific purpose: to break Endeavor's perfect creation. One Piece: Foxglove Makes the Best Poisons: A young, pretty, and struggling restaurant manager gives Sanji an offer he can't refuse. "Cook for me and I'll give your friends the antidote for the poison I just dosed them with." Attack on Titan: Untitled No. 28: There's a serial killer crawling around the streets of Victorian Britain and the inhabitants are scared. Until, one day, kind psychiatrist Sasha, as well as brooding lawyer Jean find evidence that her latest victim, Eren, may still be alive. Bit of a crackfic. Favorite Books: The Secrets of Ordinary Farm, The Goose Girl, The Help Favorite Movies: Spirit, How To Train Your Dragon, Zootopia, Captain America 2, National Treasure (1 and 2), Zootopia, and Wreck-it Ralph. Favorite TV shows: Attack on Titan, Death Note, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Sherlock, Merlin, Arrow, Over the Garden Wall, My Hero Academia and Psych Favorite Games: Undertale, The Ghosts of Maple Creek, Persona 4 Golden, Oxenfree, The Last Guardian, Endless Summer (Choices), Detroit: Become Human, and the Uncharted Series Favorite types of stories: Hurt/Comfort- I'm such a softie for hurt/comfort. I always have been. I'm not necessarily into pure whump or angst, but if there's comfort in there, I'll almost always read it. It's always nice to see the gentler side of characters get brought out, taking care of whoever's hurt. :3 I also find role reversal h/c fics to be very interesting. Instead of the parent(al figure) comforting the child, the child comforting the parent, the protector needing to be protected, etc. Adventure/Action- Adventure makes every story better, that's what I think. I love stories that have you glued to the page, wondering how in the world the character is going to make it when he is clinging to a narrow ledge in the midst of a dangerous thunderstorm. I love stories that make me scream "Don't down that dark passageway!" even though I know they can't hear me. Characters on the run from evil, on a quest to retrieve a lost item, epic battles... it gives me chills. Mystery- Ever since watching the first episode of BBC Sherlock, I have totally fallen in love with mystery. I absolutely love how every little piece of the story matters, how all the clues come together and solve the mystery. If you've got a good antagonist, an interesting problem, some action and adventure, along with a carefully laid out explanation, I'll love it. Crossovers- The thing I like best about crossovers is that you can mash all your favorite characters together in one book, and see how they react to one another. Are they surprised? Do they hate each other? Do they become best friends? The possibilities are endless! Family/Friendship: I'm not that into romance, but OH. HOW I LOVE FAMILY AND FRIENDSHIP LOVE. While romance can come off as corny or simple fluff to me sometimes, family love just seems like this rich, deep vein that pulses with life (haha, I stink metaphors). Basically, it just makes my heart explode with happiness and feels. Pairings: I guess I'm not against any shippings (as long as they aren't with people that are the same gender or closely related), but I've never been a big romance fan. I tend to go for lighter, less popular ships. They include: Sherlock/Molly, Derpy/Doctor Whooves, Soarin'/Rainbow Dash, Ray/Felicity (GAH, I wanted them to get together!!) and Naoto/Kanji (THE WORLD CANNOT HANDLE THE cuTENess) Other than that I basically stick with canon shippings. I love the idea of Sans being a sort of father figure to Frisk. And Frisk/Asriel sibling love galore. Same with Mikasa/Eren. And Gus and Shawn's friendship is the cutest thing this world has ever known. XD Hank/Connor in a father/son relationship gives me life *flails* On the fence about friendship/romance ship for Sasha/Jean, but either way, I love seeing them interact. Facts about my stories (inspired by Cke1st) As of April 13, 2018 The first story I wrote/published: Beyond the Northern Lights My longest story: Outcasts (about 36,000 words) Most popular story: do you wanna have a bad Time?
